Our hospital offers a comprehensive array of services that includes: Emergency/Trauma Services, Comprehensive Cancer Centerandthe Women and Infants Center.MEDICAL CODER Reporting to the Coding Supervisor, the Medical Coder codes medical records for the purpose of reimbursement assigning ICD-9-CM Classifications Systemand CPT-4 HCPCS System to all Medicare and outpatientsurgeries following all appropriate coding guidelines with accuracy rate of 95% or higher. In addition, the Medical Coder must reconcile daily bill hold for uncoded records, process all abstracts through coding editor software, answer telephones, performs month end reconciliation and other duties as assigned. Medical Coder provides the hospital within the Health Information Management Department and all related activities generated from the medical record department to maintain compliance with JCAHO, Title 22 and all other regulating agencies. Qualified Medical Coder will havetwo years coding outpatient medical records in a health information department of an acute health care hospital. Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job without direct supervision.
