Summary of Position


IREX seeks interns for its education programs in Africa.


Interns will support the day-to-day administration of program activities, conference logistics and support, and administrative tasks.


Ideal candidates are enrolled in or recently graduated from degree programs with a focus on African regional and political studies, international affairs, international business, entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and/or public management. They are expected to be detail oriented and possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. Interns must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills and maintain a professional demeanor for working in a cross-cultural environment at all times.


Interns will be expected to work a full time schedule starting in May 2015. Candidates should only apply if they can commit to working through mid-August 2015 or longer.


Summary of Responsibilities:


· Provide coordination and support to DC-based management and program staff.


· Assist in producing program and conference materials.


· Support conference logistics and other event-related duties as needed.


· Perform research when necessary.


Skills and Qualifications:


· Pursuant of or recently graduated with a degree in a relevant field.


· Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and multi-task.


· Strong written and oral communication skills.


· Proven ability to work as part of a team.


· Experience in international development. Experience in business, entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and/or public management is a plus.


· Experience in or related to Africa is highly desirable.
