United States of America: Consultant, Gender Integration

Position Summary:


Creative Associates is in the process of expanding and deepening gender integration throughout its development efforts. The consultant will work in close collaboration with the Senior Associate, Gender in Development, to accomplish the following types of activities, as needed: gender integration into project designs and programs; gender analysis; research and write briefs and reports; design and execute training workshops; plan and hold internal and public seminar and events; and develop gender related tools.


The consultancy is based in Washington, DC. It requires willingness to be flexible in doing varied tasks on diverse gender-related issues.


Required Skills & Qualifications:


  • Graduate degree in international development or related field (economics, political science, education, etc.) with specialization in gender and/or experience in applying a gender lens to international development issues.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience doing research, program implementation and/or training in gender and development.

  • Experience working on gender issues in one or more of the following areas: peace and conflict; education; democracy and governance; workforce development; gender based violence; and men and masculinity.

  • Experience working on gender integration in a medium-large sized development firm with a diversified portfolio and with teams of various sizes and on various development themes.

  • Strong interest and preferred previous experience in developing a marketing and communications strategy.

  • Excellent research, writing (in English) and networking skills.

  • Strategic thinker with strong planning and implementation skills.

  • Experience in designing and providing technical assistance on gender in development programs.

  • Knowledge of Spanish a plus.

  • Field experience a plus.

Position Duration:Up to 50 days (November 16, 2015–April 15, 2016), with potential to extend. Consultant should have the ability to distribute time evenly over the duration of the consultancy and be present in the office for 2.5 days/week (approximately 20 hours per week). Some flexibility is possible.
