United States of America: Senior Knowledge Management Advisor


Overview:


The Senior Knowledge Management Advisor will work with MCSP staff in Washington and worldwide and champion the commitment to program knowledge management, including the continuous creation, capture, organization, access and use of information to improve program outputs.


Responsibilities:


  • Advise and improve as needed the project’s Strategic KM Framework, including guidance, policy, and standards to maintain effective program KM, with specifics for HQ and field staff, country teams and regional groups.

  • Help promote knowledge sharing across technical, cross-cutting, and country support teams

  • Lead the implementation and continued improvement of the SharePoint site, working with the SharePoint developer and Senior Program Coordinator

  • Explore, develop, and promote collaborative tools to use to facilitate sharing of ideas and work among internal teams and external partners.

  • Promote communities of practice (COPs) in key areas and explore COPs used by other program partners to maximize knowledge sharing among program staff.

  • Liaise with Jhpiego’s KM staff at Baltimore Headquarters and with KM Advisors from MCSP partner organizations

  • Support networking efforts by program team members at headquarters and in the field to develop partnerships with other organizations.

  • Liaise with the program M&E team, Communications staff, and Learning staff to ensure that KM systems will be the most useful across the project.

  • Collaborate on external communication through participation in international conferences and representation at international and US meetings.

  • Assist with writing of technical briefs, products, and resources and develop associated dissemination plans.

Required Qualifications:


  • 10+ years demonstrated experience in communications, knowledge management, convening working bodies or professional associations, or public relations

  • Master in public health, epidemiology, statistics, demography or related social science International experience providing technical assistance as required

  • Up-to-date knowledge of communications and KM technologies and standards and an understanding of the constraints and benefits of different technologies

  • Familiarity with the international public health sphere, USAID partner organizations, and reproductive and maternal health issues

  • Passion for the mission of Jhpiego and broader global issues of public health, technology and international development

  • Strong knowledge of public health programs such as reproductive health, maternal health, health economics, and eHealth/mHealth applications for these programs

  • Understanding of evolving international health funding priorities, technical state-of-the-art thinking and priorities, and program development roles and opportunities

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines under extreme pressure, build consensus and work with diverse groups of people

  • English Required. French, Spanish or Portuguese language skills preferred

  • Aware of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multi-cultural groups in a developing country environment

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to developing countries
