Position: Social Enterprise and Marketing Intern

Organization Summary


Children’s Future is uniquely positioned to empower children and youth to break the cycle of poverty. Children’s Future holistic services provide basic needs supports, prevent human trafficking, and grant access to education for some of the most resource poor and vulnerable children in Cambodia. Children’s Future serves hundreds of children and youth that were previously not attending school and at risk of human trafficking and child labor. Children’s Future programs focus intently on ensuring that youth stay in school, attend higher education and have the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential and become positive role models, qualified professionals, and compassionate community leaders.

· Students served by the Children’s Future Learning Center will be safe, healthy, and in school

Key Responsibilities


· Conduct formal and informal polls in order to determine possible markets for merchandise such as: market trends at craft shows, on Facebook, and on other social media


· Develop potential merchandise, including new designs, styles, and goods


· Develop promotional material for the merchandise, including merchandise packaging and presentation


· Research various venues and businesses that will sell merchandise, including craft fairs and holiday markets


· Attend appropriate events to market, sell, and solicit


· Research importation and tax regulations concerning sales for 501 (c)(3) organizations


· Assist in the marketing of fundraising events and merchandise


Training


· Salesforce.com (online donor database) training


· Volunteer recruitment and retention training


· Continuous training from staff in all areas


· Possible training with JVA Consulting (grant writing, fundraising, etc.)


· Occasional international development trainings at Posner Center


Support


· Ongoing support and supervision from Outreach Director


Commitment


· 1 semester, minimum


· 10-20 hours per week, flexible


· Flexible schedule


Qualifications


· Bachelor’s Degree, or in process, in a related field preferred


· Experience in marketing


· Background in business a plus


· Ability to create marketing polls and interpret trends


· Willingness to speak directly to businesses and venues regarding Children’s Future


· Creative and self-directed


· Optimist who believes the world can be a better place


· A commitment to Children’s Future’s mission
