Responsibilities : You will be working as part of a global team that provides high-level strategic technical assurance on Soil and Groundwater Management Issues such as water resource management and contaminated land management to Shell Group companies. The work involves interfacing with Shell environmental and business staff, external consultants, and regulators. The assignment will periodically involve unique opportunities to work internationally on complex problems, with potential to broaden individual exposure and skill base. Up to 30% of your time may require travel to deliver support. Your duties will include a combination of the following: Providing technical support in sustainable groundwater sourcing and management/protection of groundwater resources to project teams developing new oil and gas opportunities globally,with a focus on groundwater management and monitoring related to development of unconventional tight gas plays Providing high-level technical assurance for site assessment,risk assessment,and remediation of soil & groundwater impacts on Downstream assets globally Contributing as a team member to the delivery of R&D, Advocacy, and training programs designed to both maintain our capability to deliver leading-edge technology, and to communicate Shell's technical position on key soil and groundwater issues to policy makers, regulators, and other key stakeholders Requirements : MS or PhD degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline Minimum of 8 years experience working in a groundwater resource and/or contaminated land management role, for industry or regulatory agency, or an independent consultancy Expertise with hydrogeologic analyses such as aquifer testing, well design, water chemistry, watershed analyses, flow modeling, etc Experience and technical depth to provide technical assurance for site assessment and groundwater monitoring programs, as well as contribute to remediation strategy development and regulatory negotiations Knowledge of remediation technologies and regulatory requirements is essential Experience with groundwater issues related to oil & gas exploration and production activities desired, particularly issues related to unconventional tight gas development Sufficient experience to make value-added contribution to Advocacy programs designed to communicate Shells technical position on key soil and groundwater issues, to policy makers, regulators, and other stakeholders Interfacing with internal Shell business customers, and external consultants and contractors, to communicate Shells technical specifications and requirements, providing specialist guidance, where appropriate Strong technical expertise, supported by sound academic qualifications, relevant practical experiences, and a commitment to continuing professional development Desire and ability to contribute co-cooperatively in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and external consultants Ability to travel up to 30% as required by business need Application Deadline : Saturday 18 May 2013 Number of Vacancies : 1 In addition to the tasks outlined in this job description, you may be assigned other responsibilities as needed.
