CSS Operations Business Manager

We have a great role for you, working as a Business Manager in the CSS Operations, Readiness, and Communications organization.

CSS is all about serving customers - both Consumers and Enterprises (from Small and Medium Businesses (SMB), to Partners and Developers). CSS is managed end-to-end from Service Planning and development, to offerings, marketing, sales, delivery and giving feedback on products. Our engineers provide technical leadership for customers around the world to help earn loyalty for Microsoft, promoting IT health through onsite, remote and dedicated support services.

CSS partners with Enterprise Services (ES) to strengthen the Microsoft Services field engineering capability worldwide;   and with Engineering to represent customer voice in   our products. CSS is a dynamic global organization with ~8000 employee’s direct line and another ~3000 dotted line in the field. The Business Manager will report into the General Manager of CSS Operations, Readiness, and Communication organization.

The CSS Operations Team embodies the How We Operate Strategy for CSS - working on perfecting CSS worldwide operations. The CSS Readiness & Communications Team plays an integral role in preparing our people for the change ahead

As Business Manager, you have 4 key responsibilities:

1.   Strategic Planning: Orchestrate the process of creating strategy with the Leadership Team and partner with the Communications team to drive communication of the strategy across the organization. Organize and drive long-range strategy, business and financial planning, organizational priorities, related team activities and related internal communications (e.g. MYR, Business/Strategy reviews, LT/BM meetings. FY budget planning). Track progress against org priorities, decisions, and action plans.

2.   Organization Business Results & ROB: Orchestrate process for collaboration and driving efficiencies to achieve business results. Create and execute the Leadership Team and Organizational ROB - driving decision making, continual awareness of critical issues and business results in partnership with Delivery Leaders, Business and Operations Management, Finance, HR, Comms - through a well-organized and productive series of meetings and reviews.

3.   Stakeholder Relationships: Orchestrate approach and process for strategically managing LT key stakeholder relationships. Help identify org stakeholders and enable LT to manage relationships.

4.Leader Support: Develop and execute the GM Field and Internal engagement plan - developing a rhythm of internal org/field/customer visits and calls, preparing clear agendas and briefing materials and ensuring that follow-up actions are documented, completed and results recorded. Collect background information, intelligence, supporting data, package them and present to leader to maximize his/her impact at internal/external engagements.

We are looking for a seasoned individual with proven track record and strong skills in multi-disciplinary business strategy, business operations, finance, communications and internal stakeholder management. This role calls for a balance of leadership and influence skills across the senior leaders within the team and beyond and significant individual contributions. As this role is a Senior IC role, your ability to lead through influence at all levels in the organization is imperative. Your ability to respond quickly as new opportunities arise is critical - you play a very important support role for the leadership team. When time-sensitive and confidential business challenges come up, we will look to you to manage the Leadership Team’s coordinated response effectively and with urgency.

As a key member of the WW Enabling Functions, you will have an essential voice with the extended leadership team, while also being a resource to help support the broader strategic and operational needs of the team.

§Strong program and project management and negotiation skills while working within established business priorities and constraints

§Demonstrated capability in managing large, global, complex projects

§Ability to deal with conflict and multiple constituencies and manage multiple simultaneous objectives

§Extremely organized and process focused. Ability to clearly prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects in parallel and effectively achieve results through a largely indirect group of internal MS partners.

§Strong cross-group collaboration skills and ability to have impact through influence

§The initiative and determination to respectfully demand the attention of busy stakeholders

§An ability to deal with adversity, ambiguity and last minute course adjustments

§Strong knowledge of how Microsoft does business in the field and with partners

§Demonstrated strategic planning and execution skills

§5+ years of business experience in the technology industry

§MBA or advanced technology degree with business management experience

§Deep knowledge of the Microsoft SMSG field organization and Services is a plus
