Police Telecommunicator - Northern Illinois University - DeKalb, IL

Provide support for public safety personnel enforcing Federal, State and local laws, rules, regulations and University policies and procedures. Receives, interprets and transmits information which supports the maintenance of public peace and order.

Scheduled work hours are various shifts (6 am – 2 pm) (2 pm – 10 pm) (10 pm – 6 am) 40-hour work week


Starting Salary: $16.01/hour plus benefits (Click here for employment benefit information) .


This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.


REQUIRED SKILLS

No record of conviction of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude. Good vision and hearing and freedom from speech impediments that would prohibit performance of job. Ability to maintain self-control under stress conditions, confidentiality and security of accessed information and to work nights, weekends and overtime as required. Successful completion of a certified public safety telecommunications training program and certification as a LEADS (Law Enforcement Agency Data System) computer terminal operator are required prior to completion of 12-month probationary period.


This is a security-sensitive position. Before any offer of employment is made, the University will conduct a pre-employment criminal background investigation, which includes a criminal background check.
