United States of America: Disability Program Assistant (Temporary--6 months, Part-time 2 days a week)


SCOPE OF WORK:


The Disability Program Assistant will provide administrative, programmatic and logistical support to both the Women’s Refugee Commission’s Disability Program. The position will report directly to the Senior Disability Program Officer.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Administrative support


· Build database of key contacts and partners, and document the WRC’s relationships with them.


· Assist with the coordination, planning and execution of events in New York, Geneva, and internationally.


· Assist with travel arrangements, conference registrations, etc for disability program staff.


· Provide logistical and administrative support to partner organizations involved in WRC events (including appropriate contractual and financial processes are followed).


· Provide administrative support as needed for the Senior Disability Program Officer and the Disability Program Officer.


Programmatic support


· Participate in meetings relating to key advocacy events and opportunities, documenting relevant information and action points for the organization and its partners.


· Develop and oversee the implementation of action plans for key advocacy events and activities, leading on the administrative and logistics components, and coordinating with program staff and partners on the technical components.


· Other program tasks as needed.


Communications Responsibilities


· Communicate with WRC staff (including disability program, communications and advocacy staff) and partners on key events and activities.


· Work with WRC communications staff to help maintain relevant sections of the website, and social media messages.


REQUIREMENTS:


· Bachelor’s degree.


· Excellent writing skills – Must be able to draft and edit meeting minutes and communicate with external partners by email.


· Proven track record of coordinating events with minimal supervision.


· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


· Strong IT and computer skills.


· Flexible work attitude: the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a small staff and to adapt to needs of the program.


· Excellent written and spoken English; French or Arabic verbal language skills are also desirable


· Experience in working with persons with disabilities, and/or the DPO movement is a plus.
