Group Finance Manager

The Group Finance Manager is part of the Operating Systems (OS) Strategic Analytics team that serves as a center of excellence for all insights and analytics related to the health of the Windows business. This person will lead a team of 3 talented finance managers, with the primary focus of enhancing insights into our business performance. The ideal candidate will combine great people management with a high degree of business acumen and technical financial analysis skills.

•      Drive best-in-class insights on Windows and Windows Phone activations and retail performance to measure health of the business

•      Maintain regular cadence of reporting and analysis of business performance

–      Weekly activation flash (Windows & Windows Phone) to senior management

–      Retail dashboards to measure competitive performance and highlight risks and opportunities

–      Monthly update of the OS components of the Board Of Directors scorecard

•      Start bi-weekly ad-hoc deep dive analysis on topics of current interest

•      Partner with peer finance teams on the monthly business insight review with CFO and the OS Leadership Team scorecard reviews

•      Partner with the business excellence team to simplify information flow and enable self-serve reporting on key sources of data

•      Lead the development of   dashboards, KPIs and metrics to track performance and impact of pricing decisions

•      Develop and regularly monitor the device landscape across form factor (PC, phone, tablet) and hardware specifications using internal and external data to understand impact of pricing decisions

•      Track progress across OS investments in device categories and highlight market trends

•      Partner with the device market intelligence team and OS engineering to develop a common view of the Windows and Internet Explorer installed base/share across form factor and OS version

•      Partner with engineering to develop a monthly dashboard of Windows installed base by OS version, form factor and geography

•      Drive the long-range installed base forecast to serve as input into key business decisions

•      Develop a rhythm to analyze and monitor OS platform adoption towards stated goals

•      Track progress of Internet Explorer share by OS version as well as IE fragmentation

•      Partner with peer finance teams and OS engineering and marketing   teams to develop a joint view of monetization on the Windows platform

•      Partner with engineering to understand and track user behavior/monetization on Windows SKUs

•      Develop a rhythm of business with peer finance teams to track monetization progress of first party apps and services on Windows

•      Ensure development and satisfaction of team by providing challenging and meaningful development opportunities

•      Responsibility for coaching and developing the team and succession planning

•      Ensuring continuity in areas of success on MS Poll and improvement in areas of development

Qualifications:

•      7-10+ years of increasing responsibility in financial analysis roles

•      High level of business acumen and ability to spot trends and garner key insights from high volumes of data

•      Strong attention to detail

•      Strong business partnering skills, needs ability to influence without authority

•      Very strong technical finance skills (Excel mastery is expected; experience working with PowerPivot, macros, SQL a strong plus)
