SR TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER

SUMMARY:

The Microsoft Retail Store’s Technology Group (RTG) is a unified multi-channel Retail Technology organization which showcases Microsoft technology by transforming and demonstrating to consumers directly the Windows PC, Software, Gaming, and Mobile device buying experience. This position gives you a unique opportunity in the Microsoft Retail Stores Division that encompasses both Online AND Brick and Mortar businesses in helping us to deliver on our retail store strategy and growth at Microsoft.

Break away from the pack and join the RTG Infrastructure, Strategy and Prototyping team!   We are searching for a Sr. Technical Project Manager to lead and drive the next generation of store systems and visually interactive displays.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities span the IT lifecycle and include consulting with internal customers and stakeholders to determine requirements, creating and communicating solution design, collaborating with various internal and external teams to accomplish milestones and deliverables, managing the project/program, and ensuring readiness for successful deployment.

This position requires extensive experience in process design and excellence, mature project management and communication skills, excellent cross-group collaboration, technical implementation track record, and commitment to delivering high quality results and services to our retail associates.

- Establish the appropriate IT solution lifecycle methodology and project governance in planning and execution to ensure on-target outcomes.

- Manage and prioritize system issues and bug resolution

- Work closely with technology infrastructure team to monitor application performance

- Manage development cycle (requirements, design, development, testing, and delivery)

- Provide timely, consistent, audience-appropriate communication to clients and stakeholders.

- Be the gatekeeper in defining and ensuring standards and consistency of project methodologies across all projects.

- Present key data to evaluate IT investment options and be able to articulate recommendations that take into account different inputs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years of demonstrated experience of driving large complex projects to successful transition.

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.   Six Sigma strongly preferred.

- Excellent oral and written skills.

- Familiarity with enterprise IT services and technologies, including networking systems and protocols, directory services, configuration management, and cloud platform.

- Experience working in fast-paced, passionate, high rate-of-change, high-tech environments.

- Must be comfortable as a power user of Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Excel.

- Experience with ITIL operating model to manage services demand, capacity planning, release management, quality reporting, and process improvements.

- Prior retail operations or store systems experience strongly preferred.
