Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure Finance (MCI Finance) is a new, exciting and fast evolving finance team within Microsoft Finance at the forefront of Microsoft’s Mobile First, Cloud First strategy with a charter to:

  Drive End to end Cloud Infrastructure planning and drive unit cost of capacity down

  Expand Cloud Servers Profitability with a focus on Gross Margin

  Support Long Term bets to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition

  Enhance transparency into Cloud Infrastructure costs to drive the right behavior

The team supports over 200 online services including Azure, Office 365, Bing, Outlook.com, Xbox Live, OneDrive and Skype!  

The Financial Reporting & Systems’ core focus is on enabling greater transparency into Cloud Infrastructure costs to drive the right behavior.   The team is primarily responsible for Finance Rhythm of Business and process efficiencies, consolidated reporting and analytics, financial reporting systems and automation, and current + next generation of internal cost allocation models.   This is a highly visible and pivotal team within MCI Finance, with responsibility for key deliverables and engagement with multiple stakeholders including MCI Finance Leadership, C+E & ASG Central Controllerships, and CFP&A.  

To be successful in the role, the Finance Manager requires a mix of strong analytical, financial reporting and business process excellence skills to provide the appropriate level of key Finance ROB guidance and consolidated financial insight.   In addition, the successful candidate will need to have the ability and confidence to work across teams, understand and communicate integrated processes, manage change to simplify, make seamless integrations and drive future advancements.

Core Responsibilities:

• Finance Rhythms of Business (ROB):   Manage the MCI Finance’s Finance (ROB) for close, forecasting, target setting and budgeting in alignment with the C+E/ASG and corporate timelines.   Communicate required deliverables clearly and facilitate reviews with key MCI Finance stakeholders.

• Financial Reporting:   Drive consolidated financial reporting and analysis for MCI Finance and preparation of key deliverables for monthly close, planning (forecast, budget, target etc.) and other financial cycle.

• Process Transformation:   Lead process efficiencies to continuously improve monthly close, forecasting and planning cycles to ensure key deadlines and deliverables are optimized.

• Automation:   Collaborate with MCI Finance stakeholders on end-to-end reporting solutions via automation to enable greater productivity, simplification and enhanced cost transparency.

• Partnership:   Support the Financial Reporting & Systems team engagement with key stakeholders in MCI Finance, C+E Finance, ASG Finance, and CFP&A.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Controllership, Audit or similar functions

• Strong competencies in the Office suite: especially Excel, Powerpivot and PowerPoint.   Hands-on knowledge of MS finance tools (MSRA, Mercury, PlanCast, BWB, MBRT, Headtrax, etc.), controls, and systems.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Ability to manage multiple and competing projects/priorities.

• Strong communication, cross group collaboration and interpersonal skills

• Strong, proven program management, process change and process management skills

• Highly developed analytical and organizational skills

• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment

• Experience in cloud services/infrastructure or related technology fields a plus

Education

BA/BS in Accounting or Finance. MBA, CPA and/or advanced technical degree preferred
