Now Hiring for a Part-Time Juvenile Corrections Officer for 3rd shift. Hours required are 10pm-6am Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Shift flexibility a must. Must be 21 years of age and pass a background check. Starting wage $12.48 per hour. Duties include but are not limited to: Maintains basic discipline and control of youths; supervises activities and behavior of youths detained in the facility; observes youths in isolation; facilitates instructional groups; follows cognitive-behavioral therapy and trauma-informed care models; wakes youths and supervises during showering and other activities; oversees youths as they perform housekeeping or other tasks; assists in serving meals; eats with youths to maintain discipline and demonstrate acceptable social skills; etc.); performs general cleaning and laundry tasks (e.g. washes and dries clothing and linens; dusts furniture; washes windows; cleans bathrooms and kitchen; sweeps and buffs floors; empties trash; etc.); ensures that residents follow facility policies and procedures; enforces behavior management system; issues warnings and disciplinary measures as necessary; conducts room checks on residents as appropriate. Performs intake procedures for youths entering the facility (e.g. completes required forms; conducts strip searches; orients youth to facility; types index cards; issues clothing and linens; enters data in DMS, etc.); performs release procedures; transports residents to outside appointments. Operates control room and maintains security of the facility (e.g. ensures that doors are locked; monitors youths’ activities by observing closed-circuit television system; operates buzzers to open doors; operates intercom system; screens incoming telephone calls; etc.). Prepares observation reports reflecting attitudes and behavior of youths; dispenses nonprescription medications; maintains logs regarding medication, incidents, incoming and outgoing telephone calls; checks logs daily to identify problems noted on other shifts.
