Police Dispatcher - City of Maryland Heights, MO - Maryland Heights, MO

The City is accepting applications for a full-time police dispatcher. Successful applicant will work in a fast-paced, stressful environment that is very demanding and must have the ability to maintain focus despite many interruptions. The successful applicant will work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and Experience:


(A) Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as data entry, filing, and (B) two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Proficient keyboard skills and the ability to clearly communicate via radio and telephone are required. REJIS certification and prior experience as a police dispatcher preferred.


Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


(A) Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures;


(B) Some skill in operation of the listed tools and equipment.


(C) Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to follow oral and written instructions.


(D) Ability to remain calm under stressful situations, ability to speak clearly and concisely, ability to work effectively with other employees and the public


(E) Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to maintain confidential information and/or material.


(F) Ability to be available for work during emergency situations and staff shortages.
