7/8 Math Teacher - 7 hours p/day Certificated Staff - South Whittier School District - Whittier, CA

Instruct courses in mathematics to intermediate pupils utilizing the state framework and the district’s instructional guide; demonstrate mathematical concepts using manipulatives; design learning activities that will relate mathematics to the practical world; conduct necessqry disgnosis to deterine students’ achievement level and to plan instructional strategies; communicates effectively with students, parents, and other staff; analyze test data for the purpose of short and long-term planning; support school and student body activities; keep accurate records; establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to promote a productive learning environment during regular class sessions; and perform other related duties as assigned by the principal.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to consistently sit for periods of time; talk or hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands and fingers to touch, feel or operate standard office equipment including technology, and reach with hands and arms; walking level surface, stand, bend and stoop; lifting objects 1-25 pounds; carry/push 1-25 pounds; specific vision abilities required include close vision to read and enter data into a computer; ability to distinguish sounds in transmission, speaking.


Mental Demands:

Stress of deadlines, stress of interpersonal conflict, normal work standards stress, ability to work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods of time, reading, interpreting codes, laws, policy, calculate, memorize and recall objects, people, analyze problems and generate alternatives, reconcile apparent ambiguities, solve multi-variant problems.


Working Conditions:

Work in a classroom environment.


Must possess a valid California Single Subject teaching credential authorizing instruction in 7th/8th grade math; Minimum one (1) year successful teaching experience at the middle school or secondary level; EL authorization (CLAD, BCLAD (Spanish); Certificate of Compliance for Highly Qualified Teachers(No Child Left Behind) if applicable and available from your previous school district of employment; CSET results or other subject matter test results; CBEST verification; Sealed official transcripts (undergraduate and graduate) due upon employment.
