Lecturer in Applied Violin/Viola - Eastern Kentucky University - Richmond, KY

Eastern Kentucky University School of Music seeks applicants for a Lecturer in applied Violin and Viola. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching applied violin and applied viola, coaching string chamber music, coaching sectionals, teaching pedagogy, coaching string orchestra, performing with faculty string chamber group, and serving as Concert Master with the EKU Symphony Orchestra when needed. Candidates will be expected to actively participate in string juries and work collaboratively with the string faculty. Candidates will be expected to participate in recital hearings and string auditions.

This position will start on August 15, 2016. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:
Master Degree related to field of instruction.


Minimum Experience Qualifications:
Experience developing and delivering classroom instruction at a university setting.

No equivalencies.


Desired Qualifications


A Master of Music degree from a regionally (SACS, Middle States, North Central, etc.) accredited or internationally recognized institution in string performance, pedagogy, or other equivalent music studies in music is required. Candidates should have an established record as a performer, demonstrate excellence in teaching, and possess a strong commitment to recruiting and teaching students of varying skill levels and learning styles, including string majors, minors, and non-majors. College teaching experience is desirable.
