United States of America: Manager, Reporting & Budget Management, NBD Dept.


The Manager, Reporting & Budget Management New Business Development Department position supports International Program’s efforts to achieve greater program impact through the successful pursuit of larger and/or more strategic USG and other public sector funding opportunities. The position is responsible for tracking and reporting on key business development metrics; providing data analysis for agency leadership’s information and decision-making; managing the NBD department budget; supporting proposal development and knowledge management and learning efforts of the department; and supervising the Program Coordinator.


Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Impact


Lead the quarterly and annual reporting responsibilities for the Department, including the preparation of the agency New Raise Report and key business development metrics. Prepare analyses and presentations for key meetings and stakeholders. Build effective relationships across departments and seniority levels to facilitate information tracking and reporting. (35%)


Manage the Program Coordinator to successfully carry out his/her responsibilities. Cross-train the Coordinator to carry out key Department functions (e.g., opportunity tracking, metric reporting, and budget management) and undertake special projects. (20%)


Serve as the Department Budget Manager. Support the yearly budgeting process. Undertake first line review of monthly budget versus actuals for all NBD budget locations and the Strategic Opportunity Fund, identifying issues and coordinating with budget managers and Finance on resolution. (15%)


Assist with proposal development in various capacities, including but not limited to writing, reviewing, and editing proposal sections, graphics, budget support, managing partner relations, or overseeing final proposal production for submission to donors. (15%)


Support NBD efforts to strengthen the systems, processes, and capacities of Save the Children at headquarters and the country offices through sound knowledge management and learning approaches. (10%)


Engage with peers in other SCUS and SCI teams to support Continuous Improvement initiatives. (5%)


Required Background and Experience, Skills and Behaviors


3 – 5 years experience in international development. New Business Development experience, particularly in USAID context, strongly preferred.


BA/BS required, Master’s degree in international development, relations or equivalent preferred.


Excellent written and verbal skills in English and strong budgeting skills required. Foreign language skills desirable.


Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced and complex environment.


Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team


Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and initiative


Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite
