Donation Attendant - Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo & Marin Counties - Mill Valley, CA

The Donation Attendant acts as a public representative of Goodwill’s mission and ensures that donors receive a pleasant donation experience. Works flexible hours at multiple locations and adheres to a no overtime policy. Accepts material goods donations at different locations by providing customer service to repeat donors and potential donors. Maximizes value of donated goods by proper handling, sorting and recording of inventory.


Accountabilities:


  • Establish partnerships with donors to ensure a continuous flow of goods

  • Proper logging of donor counts on a daily basis including proper logging of all eWaste donations

  • Utilize the 5 basic steps system

Responsibilities:


  • Offer tax receipts to donors and provide assistance in unloading donations

  • Handle goods and equipment properly to avoid damage or breakage

  • Assist drivers in loading / unloading of goods or equipment

  • Communicate needed reports and information in a timely manner

  • Sort and label goods by category and place in proper containers or equipment

  • Separate high-end goods, computer and computer accessory and place in proper equipment

  • Fill out needed production and inventory reports

  • Stack donated goods neatly and safely

  • Perform basic arithmetical calculations including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication

  • Hand out marketing materials to donors

  • Greet donors and provide information about Goodwill’s donation policy, mission, and programs

  • Maintain clean housekeeping around donation area (about 50 ft. radius)

  • Perform “Processor” function when needed

  • Travel to other locations when needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:


  • 1 year in customer service, communication and dealing with a diverse public preferred

  • Ability to work flexible hours at multiple locations

  • Recognize recyclable materials

  • Read and write legibly

  • Must be able to work evening and weekend hours

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs

  • Prefer a valid California Driver License

  • Have a reliable form of transportation

  • Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all
