Lecturer in Discipline - Columbia University - New York, NY

Columbia University’s Department of Sociology and the Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (QMSS) Master’s Degree Program invite applications for a position at the rank of Lecturer in the Discipline of Sociology. The Lecturer will teach QMSS courses and also assist the QMSS Director with elements of administering the MA program. This is a full-time position with the possibility of multiyear renewal contingent upon successful review. Ph.D. in a social science discipline or related field at time of appointment required, preferably with a specialization in applied statistics, data science methods and coding in multiple statistical software languages. Demonstrated excellence in teaching required. Lastly, the successful candidate will work closely with the staff of the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP), which oversees QMSS.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. and teaching experience. All candidates must have demonstrated excellence as scholars and teachers. The successful candidate will have talent working with people and highly developed organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both verbal and written required. Must be able to handle confidential information; excellent judgment and discretion required, and have strong leadership capabilities.


Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the graduate level.
