Job Summary


The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment ( CAFE ) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Lecturer position. This will be a nine-month or twelve-month appointment. Lecturers at the University of Kentucky have faculty status but are not eligible for tenure. The incumbent will be based in the Department of Plant Pathology ( PPA ), and will teach undergraduate courses in the PPA and Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology ( ABT ) programs, with approximately equal contributions to each program. Instruction will constitute at least 60% of the effort. The incumbent will also have substantial responsibility for service, such as outreach to K-12 programs designed to enhance research in PPA and undergraduate recruitment into ABT . Appointment is for one year, and reappointment in future years will depend on mutual agreement of the incumbent and the department chair, satisfactory performance reviews, and on availability of funds.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities


A PhD in Plant Pathology is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in college or university teaching, and with good teaching knowledge of plant pathology, microbiology, genetics and molecular biology. Qualifications include strong skills in written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, experience in K-12 outreach, and a commitment to high-quality undergraduate education. Upon offer of employment, the successful applicant must undergo national and state background checks as required by University of Kentucky Human Resources.
