Customer Service Representative (Front Desk) job - Texas Parks and Wildlife Department - Brownwood, TX





This position is responsible for performing general clerical duties, front desk operations, revenue collection and accounting for daily revenue for Lake Brownwood State Park. Provides quality customer service, answers telephones, and provides information and assistance to general public. Assists with interpretive programs and special events. Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports and any additional reports required. Maintains office supplies and inventories. Prepares correspondence regarding park related matters including purchasing, in-house memos, and outside correspondence. Provides direction for park hourly/seasonal and volunteer staff and performs light housekeeping and custodial duties. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.

Licensure:

  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class “C” Texas driver’s license.

NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:


  • Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience:

  • One year experience in performing administrative support duties;

  • One year experience in customer service and working with the public;

  • One year experience handling and accounting for revenue.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general office procedures;

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures;

  • Knowledge of basic mathematics;

  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication;

  • Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner;

  • Skill in providing interpretive programs;

  • Skill in handling a high volume front desk;

  • Skill in making independent, sound, timely decisions;

  • Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;

  • Ability to accurately handle cash and account for revenue collected;

  • Ability to work under stressful conditions;

  • Ability to work as a member of a team;

  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision;

  • Ability to provide direction for Seasonal and Volunteer Staff;

  • Ability to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 20 lbs.


Additional Information:


WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use;

  • Required to work 40 hours per week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays;

  • Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 20 lbs.;

  • Required to travel 5%;

  • Non-smoking environment in all State buildings and vehicles.
