Fuel Distribution System Operator - PULAU - Fort Irwin, CA



The Fuel Distribution System Operator is a non-exempt, full-time position working on the Training Support System (TSS) Range Sustainment contract at Fort Irwin, CA. The Fuel Distribution System Operator will receive, store, issue and receive fuel by terminal station or tank truck.

Duties Include:


  • Prepare and check transfer and receiving documents for quality assurance.

  • Conduct safe assessments of all applicable storage, reception, and delivery sites.

  • Adhere to strict grounding regulations that apply to each site.

  • Maintain all transfer components relative to duties such as, connection points, hose condition, site condition and delivery procedures may apply with the use of a loading arm.

  • Submit fuel samples.

  • Recognize safety issues and report hazardous conditions to supervisor promptly.

  • Safeguards assigned government and company property.

  • Responsible to gauge storage tank levels and monitor dispensing systems for correct pressure and safe mechanical operation.

  • Basic maintenance of the vehicles delivery system and all general housekeeping rules will apply for the up keep of Vehicle(s), storage sites, and applicable fill and delivery sites.

  • Adhere to all local and federal guidelines associated with this task and will work in accordance with strict environmental standards that apply to this position and site.

  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance while conducting business at remote sites.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills


  • Licensed to operate all mobile refueling vehicles and general-purpose vehicles.

  • Proficient in commercial petroleum operations and concepts.

  • Proficient in petroleum system inspection and maintenance practices and can identify and mitigate potentially hazardous situations.

  • Current and proficient in all operational and safety training associated with hazardous materials, contamination monitors and equipment handling to include the ability to demonstrate safety actions in product handling and identifying and reporting to higher levels.

  • Valid California driver’s license, qualify for a military driver’s license within 30 days of hire and attend the Defensive Driver’s Course (DDC.)

  • Ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to work 2 nd or 3 rd shift, holidays, and weekends.

Required Experience


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years of relevant work experience.

  • Must have CDL/Hazmat certifications.
