Sign Technician (Open) - St. Louis County, MN - Duluth, MN

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2015. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $19.20 – $26.66 per hour.

Semi-technical work in the operation of equipment used in the fabrication, installation and maintenance of highway signs and application of pavement markings and centerlines.


Distinguishing Features of Work:


An employee in this class operates and services equipment used in the fabrication, installation and maintenance of highway signs and application of pavement markings and centerlines. Employees work independently as a team while out in the field. Specific daily instructions and supervision is given by a Sign Supervisor.

Selection Process:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):


  • High School diploma or its equivalent.

  • A Class ‘B’ Commercial Driver’s License without an airbrake restriction.

  • Four years full-time paid experience in a County road maintenance division classification; OR , four years paid work experience in road construction/maintenance.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING ASSESSMENT (SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE-100% of scoring process):

Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this assessment. Experience beyond ten years may be included on the application for purposes of meeting minimum qualifications or informing the hiring authority of your complete employment history.
