Events & Program Manager job - Champaign County Chamber of Commerce - Champaign, IL


Join a dynamic, private membership-based association that represents over 1200 businesses in Champaign County. For this entry level position, we need an out-going candidate who can work well with volunteers. The selected individual must have both excellent verbal and written communication skills; and, must be able to accommodate non-traditional work hours for Chamber related events and activities. Our chosen candidate must be creative and able to take an idea from inception and implement it with minimal supervision. This position plans all major events and programs for the Chamber. The selected applicant must be able to prepare and meet event budgets; evaluate and determine all aspects of events including date/time/location, and topics/speakers for events; negotiate terms of contract for host facility/entertainment and speakers within budget; secure sponsorships as necessary; coordinate needs and staff event appropriately with staff and volunteers; serve as staff liaison to all event & program committees.


The desired candidate must provide excellent customer service and work well with vendors. Most importantly, the selected individual must be able to hit the ground running.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor Degree. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Access, Outlook and Excel. Pagemaker and/or InDesign skills are desirable. Minimum of 2 to 3 years of successful professional event planning experience preferred. Salary requirement must be included with resume. No phone calls please.
