Description of Job Duties

Conduct negotiations with property owners to acquire needed ROW. Confirm sources of titles. Deliver checks to property owners. Assist in closing & obtaining release of mortgages and liens from the acquired ROW. Prepare documents necessary for the condemnation process. Assists appraisers in obtaining information to write complicated appraisals. Write simple appraisals which involve confirmation of sales data/inspection of properties.

Characteristics of the Class :

Under general supervision appraises, negotiates and/or performs relocation assistance, replacement housing and property management work in the acquisition of routine highway rights-of-way parcels while developing skills to deal with the most complicated right-of-way work; and performs other duties as required.


Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements :

Work typically involves extensive contact with the public. Walking over rough and hilly terrain may be required. Work is performed in all types of weather conditions.


Additional Requirements :

Upon appointment, employees in this class may be required to maintain a valid driver’s license and required to drive a licensed vehicle. This status may be necessary for the length of time in this class. If this is necessary it will be listed in the specific position description for that position. Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check. Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Corrections or with youth in the care, custody, or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 C.F.R.115.17 and 115.317.
