Tetra Tech ARD, based in Burlington, Vermont (http://tetratechintdev.com) is accepting expressions of interest for a Social and Behavior Change Communication Specialist (SBCCS). The SBCCS will provide expertise for international development projects and work to promote approaches using participatory, evidence-based approaches to design communications programs for projects and new business efforts. Candidates should be adaptable to a variety of technologies, experienced in designing and implementing impactful events and deliverables, strong at coordination and training, and enthusiastic advocates for project success.


Candidates should be capable of working around the world under challenging conditions. This position is based in Burlington, Vermont or Arlington, Virginia.


Responsibilities


* Provide technical assistance, support, training, and leadership in the development of project outreach, awareness, and behavior change communication strategies and materials. Ensure development of high-quality products, uptake of innovative dissemination practices, monitoring and evaluation of communications activities and impact, and adherence to USAID branding and marking guidelines;


* Recommend innovative approaches and technical support on information dissemination and expanding project reach to include marginalized groups for dissemination of through a wide variety of channels and approaches, including cutting-edge and traditional approaches;


* Provide recruitment, and training, and technical support to field staff;


* Coordinate closely with Tetra Tech corporate communications, knowledge management, shared services, and technical staff to ensure sharing of project tools, approaches, and materials with wider audiences;


* Provide content for dissemination on digital platforms, including web and social media sites, and repurpose project information and materials to meet differing needs;


* Provide technical support and oversight in the recruitment and training of field staff and local partners;


* Coordinate, manage, and implement a comprehensive project communications knowledge management strategy (in partnership with headquarters staff and country teams) that facilitates the uptake of communications best practices across the firm; distill, capture, and package country communications program learnings; and oversee and support the development of clear systems and processes for internal information sharing; and


* Participate in Tetra Tech new business development activities, including proposal development and writing as necessary.


Qualifications * Minimum of MA/MS in Communications or International Development with an emphasis on communication for development (a combination of strong field experience and a Bachelor’s degree will also be considered);


* At least 5 years of relevant experience required (8 years, preferred), including 2-3 years of implementation experience;


* Excellent interpersonal, teambuilding, problem solving, and program management skills required;


* Demonstrated experience in the use of new and emerging communication technologies to reach audiences effectively and at scale, and in assessing knowledge sharing needs and identifying appropriate dissemination activities;

* Successful planning, facilitation, and management of events including stakeholder/audience consultation workshops, materials/product pretesting activities, focus groups, meetings, conferences, and program launches;

* Outstanding interpersonal and intercultural skills;


* Experience supporting field teams to complete objectives/activities on time and within budget, while meeting high standards;

* Knowledge of international development, particularly USAID-funded initiatives;


* Excellent analytical, writing, and oral presentation skills: English fluency required, fluency in French preferred;

* Availability for frequent overseas travel on short- and medium-term assignments with as much as 30% travel


to developing countries; and
* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory.
