    Description


    Environmental Engineering Interns may be assigned to either a manufacturing or non-manufacturing location within the United States. The Environmental Engineering intern will be expected to develop an understanding of environmental compliance in a large automotive manufacturing operation.


    Major Duties or Responsibilities


    Interns will be assigned to an environmental engineer located at the site where placed, and will receive direction from the site environmental engineer(s).


    Interns will be given projects and assignments that will focus on environmental compliance in areas such as waste, air and/or water. Compliance projects will focus on conformance to internal, local, state and federal rules and regulations.


    Interns may be given assignments to further develop the site’s sustainability goals, such as landfill free initiatives, wildlife habitat establishment and maintenance, and environmental outreach programs.


    Interns will be expected to become familiar with the manufacturing operations at the location where placed.


    Interns will be expected to become familiar with the Global Manufacturing System (GMS) and GM environmental management requirements, and assist with determinations of site applicability and impact.


    Interns will be expected to develop and/or help maintain required environmental monitoring and reporting (e.g., emissions testing) programs, at the direction of the site environmental engineer.


    Qualifications

    Education :

    Seeking students currently working on undergraduate or graduate degrees in the following majors:


    Environmental Engineering

    Environmental Sciences

    Civil Engineering


    Chemical Engineering


    Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0


    Qualifications:


    Right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.


    Strong written and oral communication skills.

    High level of analytical ability to solve complex issues.


    Ability to work independently.


    Proactive/results driven individual with high level of initiative.


    High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others.


    High level of interpersonal skills to work with others with varying levels of education and experience.


    Some travel may be required.
