    General Purpose of Position :


    Purchasing : Responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and independent judgment.

    Supply Chain & Logistics: Support the flow of material to stamping centers, powertrain facilities, and assembly plants; as well as the transportation of finished vehicles to domestic dealers and international sales partners. Complete projects that develop, validate and implement network designs, operating plans, container specifications, total enterprise cost analysis.


    Potential Locations : Warren, MI – Pontiac, MI – Grand Blanc, MI – Detroit, MI


    Preferred Critical Skills :


    Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc)

    Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance

    Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills

    Automotive industry experience

    Knowledge of procurement software

    Knowledge of materials management

    Capable of interpreting market data

    Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

    Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes


    Required Qualifications :


    Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering

    GPA of 3.0

    Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

    High level of analytical ability where problems can be somewhat complex

    Developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines

    Proficient with Microsoft office products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
