Master Project Scheduler - Logistics Management Institute - Alexandria, VA

GENERAL SUMMARY

Position is on the consulting staff of a government consulting firm located in McLean, VA. Work will be at client location in the Washington, DC metropolitan area with frequent trips to Huntsville, AL.


Army Enterprise Systems Integration Program (AESIP) is seeking a Project Scheduler to join a high performing team in the acquisition of a new logistics automation capability for the US Army. This is a critical position supporting the AESIP Program in developing and maintaining a scheduling management system to assist with monitoring and controlling of a complex Army ERP. This position will report directly to the AESIP Program Control Office, while working closely with project managers. The Project Scheduler is essential to the Government for organizing, implementing and maintaining a scheduling management system supporting the AESIP Program.


The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and leading an effort to develop and maintain a project schedule for multiple concurrent software projects within a complex landscape of cost, schedule and performance drivers that collectively constitute a major Army Automated Information System.


AESIP is looking for an experienced, high-performing individual who is ready and willing to take on the program management challenges of a high profile, multi-year software development effort within a complex and demanding environment.


REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES:
Set up tasks and sub tasks to ensure satisfactory realization of project contract requirements as scheduled


Design and develop integrated master schedules and sub project schedules using MS Project


Review project scope and produce preliminary schedule(s), assist with estimates, and maintain all new information into a MS Project schedule and provide reports for coordination and reporting purposes to the Project Manager and Team Leads


Interact on a daily basis with the client, project staff and project teams to schedule work and coordinate assignments – requires an effective communicator


Interact with project team and task managers to define scope of work to develop and update detailed schedules, cost information and identification of variances from original plan


Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas


Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around.


Identify risks affecting project cost, schedule and performance


Ability to analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around(s). Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules


Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)


Strategize with and advise the Project Manager and Team Leads regarding project schedule direction and decisions. Effectively define the issue, offer recommendations and work with the team to agreed-upon actions


Develops overall project management calendars and schedules that accurately reflect the scope of the work holistically and by initiative to ensure visibility and alignment to organization priorities and resource allocation


Must have the ability to produce schedules which graphically show the decision points, milestones, progression and interdependence of the project tasks to provide program and Army leadership with a clear picture of the project schedule, communicate project updates and support effective decision making


Develop and present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required


PMP certification a plus


A verifiable history of involvement in 5+ years of experience of project scheduling


Strong MS Project skills and fluency with spreadsheets and databases (Excel and Access).


DoD Secret security clearance.
