You will be redirected to TheLadders.comJob DescriptionThe Database Administrator (DBA) Manager role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the DBA group in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. This individual will plan, coordinate, and direct the DBA Team on development activities related to the IT organization strategy. The Database Administrator (DBA) Manager will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This Person plays an expert role in the database and application-data persistence model design, development, debugging and documentation for mission critical business applications and subsystems.
Position Responsibilities:
* Lead/Manage Database Administrator team
* Scope, plan and manage database administration projects. Evaluate and document database requirements for technical design as part of software development lifecycle; develop detailed designs if necessary
* Identify and resolve issues that influence the progress of specific projects and ensure that risks are resolved or triaged for resolution
* Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent database Development activities, projects, etc.
* Provide and assist in facilitating communications of application and database administration implementation requirements and recommendations between all team members.
* Provide advice, recommendations and design decisions, Backup and Recovery techniques; Disaster Recovery strategies; High Availability configurations; data loading, extraction, and transformation techniques
* Provide support on data quality components during the implementation of the solution architecture
* Provide technical recommendations for optimized data access
* Responsible for staff management, career planning and recruiting. Supervise the work of direct reports
Requirements and Qualifications:
* Bachelor degree in IT or a related field or equivalent experience
* 7+ years of proven experience with database administration in the Oracle RAC database environment, demonstrating a good knowledge of database software and operating systems, in addition to general knowledge of Oracle RAC 10g and 11g
* 2+ years on a software development project requiring maintaining schema and data changes on a large scale
* 2+ years integrating, initializing, populating, synchronizing, cleansing, mapping and transforming Bulk Data Migration on large scale projects
