Technical Solutions Professional - PDW, Incubation Sales team

Data Warehousing, Big Data and Appliance based solutions represents key growth areas for the SQL Server Platform, and is a strategic priority for Microsoft.  

Key responsibilities and activities in this role include:

•      Successfully driving win rates within assigned Data Warehouse opportunities through the delivery of technical sales engagements, POCs and technical presentations.

•      Assist in performing the technical qualification of assigned opportunities.

•      Developing technical elements of proposals and architectures that feed into DW solution documents.

•      Build relationships with relevant customer personnel such as infrastructure teams, enterprise architects and Data Warehouse managers.

•      Deliver the PDW/Big Data “Modern Data Warehouse” Level 300 messaging to customers, partners and core sales teams

•      ADS - taking lead and managing DW Architecture Design sessions - and working to keep from having to go to PoC

•      If needed, managing the technical interface between the customer and the MS POC team to ensure POC scope & success criteria are clearly defined and documented and ensuring DW artifacts are provided in a timely manner to the POC team.   Assisting in the execution of the POC if necessary.

•      Supporting the development of partner relationships that feed the Data Warehouse opportunity pipeline.

•      Developing partner enablement and readiness materials to support GTM plans.

•      Migrating customers with competitive solutions onto a Microsoft Data Warehouse Solutions.

Key Attributes for Candidates:

•      Strong sales aptitude with the ability to lead in-depth technology discussions, articulating the business value of a product or technology.

•      Experience in an environment where customer contacts and knowledge are leveraged to listen proactively for up-sell/cross-sell opportunities.

•      Deep technical skills with the ability to translate the feature/function sets of our products into customer solutions and win against the competition.  

•      Working proactively within assigned opportunities to uncover and qualify new opportunities.

•      Developing strong, strategic partners engaged in immediate and long-term strategic opportunities and committed to Microsoft.

•      Ability to work hand-in-hand with the Core Field SSP/PSS, AM and ATS teams ( ATU/STU - EPG-SMSP, SLG others)

•      Is a resourceful problem-solver, leveraging internal and partner resources in assigned opportunities where and when needed to do what’s right for the customer

Technical Requirements:

Subject Matter Expertise:

•      200 to 300 Level understanding of data warehousing and data management techniques such as data quality, data modeling, master data services, Kimball / Inmon / Data Vault approaches to data warehouse design

•      200 to 300 Level Understanding of the corporate data environment, tools used, both Microsoft (i.e. SSIS, SQL Server, SQL Server Analysis Services) and non-Microsoft (IBM DB2 / DataStage, Informatica, Oracle)

•      Experience with one or more large-scale data warehouse appliance solutions such as Oracle Exadata, DB2, Teradata, Greenplum and Netezza

•      100 to 200 Level knowledge of server and storage architectures and associated concepts such as sequential I/O, HW SW balanced systems design, fiber channel, SAS storage etc.

•      100 to 200 Level knowledge of operating system fundamentals

•      200 to 300 Level knowledge in logical data modeling concepts

Microsoft Products:

•      200 to 300 Level knowledge of SQ Server 2012

•      100 Level knowledge of Fast Track Data Warehouse Reference Architecture, PDW or similar competing products and services

•      100 Level knowledge of the Microsoft Systems Reporting Services, Analysis Services, Integration Services

•      100 Level knowledge in other Microsoft products, such as Exchange, PowerBI,   Sharepoint, BizTalk, and EAI

Hardware & Infrastructure:

•      100 Level understanding of server technologies such as PCI Express, Memory Architectures, NUMA

•      100 Level understanding of networking and interconnect technologies such as Fiber Channel, Infiniband, Ethernet

•      100 Level knowledge of storage and I/O monitoring and optimization

•      100 Level knowledge of architectures for high-availability and fault tolerance (e.g. clustering)

•      100 Level knowledge of data center operations

Competitor Products:

•      100 Level knowledge of IBM (DB2, DataStage)

•      100 Level knowledge of Oracle (10g / 11g, Exadata)

The Sales Solution Professional (SSP) will be a senior sales executive in the State and Local Government, Healthcare, Education and Federal ERP Businesses.   This individual should have rich enterprise public sector selling experience and be a credible communicator with executive presence.   The SSP will be responsible for cultivating a partner led sales practice to drive solution wins across all 4 Dynamics offerings (AX, GP, NAV, SL).   This individual should possess excellent organizational, communication, and selling skills. The successful candidate will have 8-10+ years of solution selling experience, and at least 8 years in a direct sales role within the ERP public sector industry. The successful candidate will have an understanding of ERP transformation, industry compliance requirements, and the ERP value proposition (ROI) by vertical niche.

The SSP will be responsible for managing, leading and closing top Microsoft opportunities. This role will have a heavy focus within the US Public Sector State and Local Government, Healthcare, Education and Federal Markets. These opportunities will be defined as the largest and most complex ERP opportunities and will require close coordination with the Public Sector account team unit members who help to establish the Microsoft technology foundation in these accounts. Position can be located anywhere in the US and the expectation is that this role will require 30% travel. Preferred location is Southwest US.

A successful Microsoft Sales Solution Professional (SSP) will contribute to the US Public Sector sales team by focusing on complex deals that pull the Microsoft technology stack, positively impacting Microsoft Dynamics revenue generation, building productive external relationships with Industry leaders to promote the availability at Microsoft Dynamics solutions. The SSP will be involved in specific and strategic sales opportunities, and will also be the voice back to the product team for continued functionality product improvements needed for innovation and leadership in these markets. The candidate’s success in delivering total solutions to prospects, customers and partners will be dependent upon teaming with Microsoft Partner Account Managers within field sales, partners, as well as other Microsoft sales and technical sales resources.

Additional Responsibilities:

The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to achieving overall revenue targets and solutions positioning. The successful candidate must also engage with partners in the strategy, solution, proof and closing stages of a given sales cycle. The successful candidate will have recommendations for marketing activities within the assigned verticals. Candidates with the ability to succeed in this role will display the following attributes: Excellent sales, communication, negotiation, problem solving and organizational skills; understanding of Microsoft’s strategic direction; ability to develop successful compete strategies, deliver effective presentations; ability to engage with a wide range of audiences from end user to senior management, and a thorough understanding of an ERP sales cycle.

Qualifications:

•      A BS/BA degree is required

•      8+ years in a direct sales role within the ERP industry

•      Ability to act as a credible Industry spokesperson for Microsoft

•      Understanding ERP transformation and value proposition

•      Ability and willingness to work within a leveraged, partner selling model

As a Dynamics CRM Customer Care Technology Solutions Specialist (TSS) you will assist the Dynamics Sales team in qualifying, developing, and managing Dynamics CRM related customer care opportunities. Along with the other sales team members, you will play an integral part in maximizing Microsoft’s long term revenue growth, ensuring successful deployment of our products and improving customer satisfaction.   This role will be primarily focused on the sale of Parature solutions and services, a recent and exciting acquisition by Microsoft.

In this position, you will communicate and transfer business process / solutions sales knowledge in customer care and service center scenarios. The Customer Care Technology Solutions Specialist will be focused on Demand Generation (seminars, tradeshows), Solution Development (Discovery), and Proof Phases (DEMO) of the sales cycle. To support scaling Microsoft’s reach, the CRM Customer Care Technology Solutions Specialist is responsible for building sales expertise of our partners and supporting our MBS selling team with solution demonstration and mapping of the MBS applications to the customer’s business.

The Customer Care TSS is a critical part of the virtual team that works closely with the Microsoft Account Team, Specialist Unit and Dynamics partners as a Subject Matter Expert and Consultant. They will visit client sites and go on calls with these teams to help convert prospects into technical solutions for the business. When a partner is involved, the CRM Customer Care TSS assists in communicating the benefits of Parature and how the solution integrates to Microsoft CRM if that is a requirement. The CRM Customer Care TSS is also an escalation resource, to assist in the sales process, for top tier managed partners (top 30%). The CRM Customer Care TSS also provides business solutions technical evangelism to the broader community of partners and customers through various events (live, web, etc.).

Specializations around a vertical industry (healthcare, financial services, public sector, professional services) is strongly desired but not required.   Customer care experience, expertise with the CRM solution set, and being skilled in the art of storytelling are all very important skills necessary to be successful in this role.

Required Skills and Qualifications: The ideal candidate will:

• Strong technical background in CRM and Cloud Solutions space

• 6+ year's technical presales experience

• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate the advantages of Microsoft technology to senior business and technical decision makers as well as front-line technologists

• Must be proficient in creating Technical Solution Strategy mapped to the business plan for the accounts assigned

• Must be able to work effectively with virtual teams

• A BA/BS or MS degree is preferred

Up to 40+% travel is required.
