Job Description SSN 21 Class Logistician provides Program Management, Engineering Technical, SUBSAFE/QA, and Commitment List support on all operation and maintenance issues surrounding SSN 21. Specific duties include but not limited to:
• Provide technical support for SSN 21 specific Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Systems and related issues.
• Provide technical assistance to correct problems in the SSN 21 Class material forecasting arena to assure as a minimum mandatory replacement parts are provided to the Depot by the NAVSEA Material Forecasting system in advance of availabilities.
• Provide technical assistance to SSN 21 Project to work load level the Maintenance Plan/Schedule to better manage length and costs of availabilities.
• Assist with Tracking and Resolving SUBSAFE issues and P-9290 issues.
• Provide assistance as directed by NPOC.
• Attend Seawolf class systems status meetings as required by NPOC.
• Interface with support activities as necessary to resolve SSN 21 technical problems.
• Receive, distribute for Technical Review, and adjudicate Technical Code comments for SSN 21.

Emergency situations resulting from mechanical failure or affects of natural catastrophes (flood, debris problems) are not uncommon and must be dealt with quickly.  You will be required to live on-station in government housing and respond to after-hours water system alarms.

As a Maintenance Worker at the Chesapeake Marshlands NWR Complex, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Cambridge, MD, you will perform a variety of maintenance and repair work on equipment, facilities, and grounds at the Complex.  Duties include:

Operating farm tractors with auxiliary equipment for farming, mowing, and maintaining dikes, ponds and other related activities;

Operating one to four ton trucks, and vehicles towing trailers over 10,000 lbs. or combinations of vehicle and trailer GVWR over 26,000 lbs;

Operating a wide variety of power tools to perform maintenance on equipment, buildings and other refuge facilities.

You must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License or CDL Learner's permit with airbrake endorsement by the application deadline.

In order to be qualified for the WG-07 level, you must possess the ability to independently operate without more than normal supervision trucks, tractors, or similar all-terrain vehicles to haul equipment or refuse and maintain landscaping. Additionally, I have the ability to carry out simple maintenance and construction tasks, such as repairing boardwalks, kiosks, or other simple structures or installing items such as lighting or plumbing fixtures. I am skilled in the use and operation of common hand tools and measuring devices of the carpentry, plumbing, or electrical trade to perform these maintenance tasks.

In order to be qualified for the WG-08 level, you must possess the ability to independently operate without more than normal supervision a variety of vehicles or heavy equipment, including tractors, backhoes, and all terrain vehicles and attachments to haul equipment, maintain landscaping, and move earth to rough specifications.  I am able to perform preventive maintenance on these vehicles.  Additionally, I am able to carry out simple maintenance and construction tasks, such as repairing boardwalks, kiosks, or other simple structures or installing items such as lighting or plumbing fixtures. I am skilled in the use and operation of common hand tools and measuring devices of the carpentry, plumbing, or electrical trade to perform these simple maintenance tasks.

Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

This is a DRUG-TESTING designated position. The applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, the applicant will be subject to random drug testing for illegal drug use.

All new employees of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service must identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay prior to appointment.

New employees who are expected to travel on official business are required to apply for a Government travel charge card within 30 days of their appointment.
