As an Enterprise Architect, in this strategic role within Enterprise Strategy Services, you will deliver advisory and planning services to Microsoft’s top enterprise customers, enabling our customers to achieve their most challenging business and organizational goals while leveraging value from their investment in the Microsoft Platform. Through a programmatic approach and objective assessment of the customer’s existing business imperatives, organizational capabilities and IT investments, you will systematically plan, orchestrate, and contribute to the development and execution of their strategic technology initiatives.

With IT sponsorship, you’ll develop relationships with key business executives, enabling the customer to translate business needs and insights into actionable IT strategy, and assist IT in driving these initiatives to early results and business value.

You will also share industry-proven architectural and planning practices and promote successful integration of Microsoft technologies in a heterogeneous environment. You’ll be provided an extensive network of professional colleagues with complementary competencies and expertise, bringing the best of Microsoft to customers.

Relationship-driven differentiation: As the primary delivery resource for the Enterprise Strategy business, what you provide is unique and available only from Microsoft. You’ll advocate on behalf of the customer back into the Microsoft organization and maximize the value delivered from the relationship. Core activities include:

• Orchestrating Executive Briefing Center visits and bi-directional connection with Microsoft Product Development Groups as well as many other teams and communities.

• Facilitating the Customer’s uptake of Technology Adoption Programs for early advantage from pre-released Microsoft Products.

• Harnessing insights from groups like Microsoft Research, one of the largest sponsored technology research organizations worldwide. You’ll also have access to ‘the Library’, a catalogue of reference architectures, industry insights and field-driven Intellectual Property, providing exceptional and unique value to the customer.

• Partnering with your CTO/CIO and facilitating IT staff development amongst their reports.

Business-driven portfolio value management: A disciplined approach is followed in this role - first to understand the customer’s needs and then to develop roadmaps that result in an increase in realized value from their Microsoft investment across a heterogeneous IT environment. Activities include:

• Creating business case development and benefits management programs that define, track and report accrued value through the optimal application of IT to business challenges.

• Orchestrating and/or designing and architecting solutions that leverage both the investment made in the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement and the customer’s current heterogeneous IT environment in the best interests of the customer, driven through a formal program of change and drawing from the collective know-how of Microsoft.

• Providing portfolio governance and oversight to drive lifecycle optimization and alignment across all Microsoft-related initiatives.

Teaming to accelerate value: When a customer invests in an Enterprise Agreement license with Microsoft, the Enterprise Architect accelerates the time-to-value by aligning the technology deployment and business adoption plans with the customer’s broader organizational objectives. Activities to support this objective include:

• Creating architectural and technology roadmaps that result in stronger business/IT alignment and that drive adoption and value from the Enterprise Agreement.

• Orchestrating the use of the Microsoft network of resources formally from within the Architect’s individual engagement. This can range from formal architectural systems design through to general technology consulting and beyond. Likewise an Architect may be called on by colleagues to contribute from their area of specialization in other large engagements or to work jointly with the Microsoft support team around specific customer initiatives.

Practice development: In this role, you’ll contribute to the growth and maturity of the local and international communities by providing mentorship, fostering IP development / knowledge transfer, and thought-leading by example. In addition, opportunities exist to contribute to IP development and reuse initiatives and drive proven practices in architecture, planning, and customer relationships.

The WW Director Enterprise Strategy CoE is responsible for leading and managing a team of high-performing individuals across the A13, (Asia Pacific, Central and Eastern Europe, France, Germany, Greater China, India, Japan, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, United Kingdom, Western Europe, Canada and United States Areas), as well as anchoring relationship and engagement with key A13 stakeholders, helping Microsoft sales teams to pursue, land and deliver Enterprise Strategy engagements in the Global and Multinational corporations(MNCs).

This role is most critical during sales support, discovery and design phases, with broad focus around enterprise, industry, platform and solutions. The WW Director will be expected to bring their years of experience and business acumen to bear on worldwide business development opportunities and contribute to thought leadership across both Microsoft Services and the Enterprise and Partner Group (EPG).

Responsibilities include:

¨ Partnering with key A13 Services and EPG stakeholders to develop, lead and execute on an appropriate strategy for successful CoE engagement in the A13 areas and target subsidiaries

¨ Driving successful Enterprise Strategy sales and delivery

¨ Recruiting and managing a high performing team, meeting quarterly and yearly business performance KPI’s

¨ Managing team career aspirations and people development

¨ Providing field and customer guidance during the sales cycle, and during delivery for Globals/MNCs

¨ Growing the field capability through mentoring, readiness, and community evangelism

This is a leadership position which is accountable for the results and execution of the role’s direct reports. Core activities for this role’s team include:

¨ Creating business case development and benefits management artefacts resulting in the successful sale and delivery

¨ Leading solution selling presales workshops with Business and Technical Decision Maker (BDM and TDM) audiences to accelerate pipeline and grow share

¨ Delivering outcomes that maximize business value for our Globals/MNC and grow share of wallet for Microsoft

¨ Providing governance and oversight to drive the CoE field execution with both field Services and EPG, and alignment across datacenter-related strategy and planning initiatives

¨ Assisting with IP development and reuse initiatives and harvest best practice in presales, architecture, business planning, and customer engagement

To be a successful candidate for this role, you will need to have

¨ Direct people management experience of a remote team of more than 5 people is required, including ownership of employee recruitment, development, feedback, and performance reviews.  

¨ At least 10+ years related IT and management experience. Industry experience of working for or with organizations in the Telco/Systems Integration/Public Sector/Retail/Oil & Gas/Financial sectors is preferred.

¨ Work experience should involve advisory services, management/technology consulting, consulting and solution presales, solution design, envisioning, planning, deployment, benefits analysis and management.

¨ Must have proven background in selling and delivering into enterprise customers

¨ Must have proven record of delivering business value at an executive level.  

¨ Experience in business process, financial concepts and executive level interpersonal skills.

¨ Relevant field-based knowledge of competing and winning against solutions and technologies from primary competitors e.g. AWS, SAP, Oracle, etc.

¨ Candidates must have a deep understanding of markets, customers, and technology; have the background to provide leadership in the practice and a demonstrated effectiveness in consulting and client management

- Landing the national plan through a strong and informed community across the US including the BG leads, Solution Marketing Managers, and Partner Marketing Managers, Specialists, Technical Specialists, and Services Managers.

- Own the success of your respective field teams, providing guidance and coaching to execute according to the national plan, according to the national engine and conversation model through the quality of the field Compass plans.

- Deliver strategic leadership for field marketing through marketing planning, value proposition guidance and customer targeting data. Data analysis (using Microsoft’s business analytics tools ‘Customer Information Store’ - CIS) to transform key customer data into valuable business insights for the field sales and marketing organization to identify strategic targets.

- Ensure the field marketers are strong and informed on all relevant Optimization business.

- Ensure the field marketers drive effective and efficient execution plans to drive optimum ROI and Marketing Plans through Compass are accurate and aligned with SAW Priority Campaign guidance.

- Ensure the US Field and WW teams are working from a foundation of best practices: as strategic trusted advisor, identify and share best practices, eliminate roadblocks.

- You will be responsible for the results of the campaign field execution for the scorecard metric results to the relevant product managers and leadership teams.

- Lead monthly One Microsoft SAW business review meetings with your colleagues from sales, services, partner and product marketing to present results of your field community execution and business insights based your analysis using GMO reporting tools to review business metrics and apply adjustments to keep scorecard metrics green.

- Present monthly and quarterly business review to senior management for buy-in and status on a regular basis.

Requirements:

This position requires strong business strategy, leadership, analytical skills; and cross-team collaboration to integrate the national US Sales, Partner, Services, Product Marketing, and US Field Marketing teams. This leadership is key to driving growth, revenue, share, CPE, and overall scorecard performance.

The role requires a deep understanding of Microsoft’s enterprise customers, including their buying patterns and behaviors, the business value of Microsoft’s capabilities, products and solutions, understanding of key competitors, the field organization, strategic marketing planning, execution, and measurement, and Microsoft licensing. The ability to use impact and influence to drive business outcomes is a must. The role has a significant impact on the US subsidiary business and Microsoft’s overall enterprise marketing strategy.

This position is expected to engage directly with senior management and leadership roles across the business to drive alignment and accountability to deliverables and results. Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in IT, experience in the enterprise segment and deep insight across sales, marketing and services functions; be familiar with CIO challenges, and have solid knowledge of the market place. Minimum level to apply is L63.
