ICE/ DMX (Information & Content Experience team & Do More Experience) which is a part of Microsoft ASG (Application & Services Group) is tasked with building next-generation experiences for new devices and form factors, particularly tablets, phones and the web with the aim of driving innovation.   The ICE/ DMX Research team is seeking an exceptional Design Researcher with a proven track record for creating and conducting a variety of different study methodologies.   This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who is excited about making an impact on future mobile apps and web experiences. You are passionate about exploring interesting research questions for applications and have an insatiable appetite for conducting research.   You will work with Design, Product, and Engineering teams to help them understand current user behaviors and pain points. You will synthesize the key issues and communicate them to the product team and management.   The responsibilities of this position will vary but you must be comfortable conducting research for all stages of the user-centered design process: from early stage ethnographic research, concept studies, design iteration, through to usability studies and benchmarking.

The role & requirements:

• 5-8 years of experience conducting research with Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Psychology, Human Factors, HCI, or related field (e.g. HCDE)

• Passion for user research and strong end-user advocate

• Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard research methodologies

• Solid research skills including developing research plans, experimental design, collecting and analyzing human behavioral data in a lab or in field setting  

• Use your research to identify new opportunities and generate innovative ideas that influence the product direction

• Drive your work through the software development process, working as part of a multi-disciplinary product development team of User Research, Design, Product Marketing, Program Management, Development, and Test

• Collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure we maintain industry leadership, delivering innovative, exciting and emotionally engaging products

• You must be able to work collaboratively with other researchers, and work on multiple interrelated projects to completion on schedule  

• You must be able to assess data from multiple sources, synthesize it, and translate into actionable recommendations

• You must have strong work practices and a proven record of delivering research findings on time for demanding and complex research questions

• Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly organized, able to work in a team environment that is fast-paced with multiple projects, Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills

Ideal Candidates will also have:

• Experience conducting research involving productivity apps/ systems (e.g., Office 365, Google Docs, OneNote, Evernotes, LinkedIn etc.)

• Experience conducting research involving multi-platforms (Web, SW, HW) in both US and global scale

• Experience conducting research with hardware/software interaction

• Experience with touch interfaces in cross-platform apps (iOS, Android) in addition to Windows platform

• Experience with non-lab based methods: field work, contextual inquiry, card sorting, interviewing, and longitudinal/ diary research

• Project management skills to prioritize research needs and ensure its successful completion

• 3+ years of industry experience in user research with a proven track record

An advanced degree in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, behavioral science, or related field is preferred but not required.

We love the luxury fashion customers that we serve, and hope to find a like-minded image processing / algorithm design engineer to join the team.

You’ll be using an agile development process with rapid iteration to build an algorithm that matches user inputs including height, weight, body shape, and purchase history to their size in online clothing. We’re looking for an experienced engineer to help us map these user inputs to our database of parameterized 3D body scans.

A successful candidate will be excited to work full-time to help build a company from the ground up. We have multimillion-dollar customers in the luxury fashion space ready to take our product to market. We’re located in NYC and though we’re open to an initial remote consulting period, you’ll need to be located here in the long run.

Skills required include expertise in MATLAB and C++, and especially the ability to quickly understand and build upon our existing technology. Comfort with machine learning and computer graphics would be major plusses, as would proficiency with web development languages. The ideal candidate also has passion for fashion and an eye for elegance.

We will pay market based compensation, with preference to engineers who are looking for an entrepreneurial package with an equity stake in the company.

My Wiltshire based client urgently require a contract Mechanical Design Engineer on an initial three month basis to assist in the design of tooling equipment, machining jigs, fixtures and pallets.

With an automotive/aerospace background, you will have good experience of mechanical design, darfting, parts lists, detailing and geometrical tolerancing in tooling design and tool making. You will be proficient in using Solidworks or CATIA V5.

Design of hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical control systems would be an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for management/technical coordination of resources for quality and timely deliverables (FEED & Detail Design deliverables) for Surface Engineering Deepwater portfolio.

Possesses solid knowledge/experience (multiple years) of PDMS project administration in the support of major projects (including support of a PDMS user community with the various PDMS modules and operating systems (UNIX,NT)
Further exposure and experience with Oracle, Fortran, C languages, PML, LISP and Visual Basic would be most desirable
Possesses solid hands on knowledge/experience (multiple years) in delivery and execution of Engineering/Design Drafting major projects utilizing PDMS/AutoCAD work processes & tools
Possesses PDMS/REVIEW/AutoCAD knowledge
Possesses broad onshore design experience with quality control/checking skills and knowledge of fabrication techniques
Knowledge of onshore oil and gas production facility design standards/specifications
Has ability to effectively interface with multiple communities,including process managers, engineering project managers, design engineers, designer/drafters, alliance consultants, vendors and other team leaders
Has hardware knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project)
Has complete understanding of FEED/detail design deliverables for Onshore/offshore projects

Requirements:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (+15 years of experience) in applying discipline skill to Oil & Gas facilities projects and/or as a minimum, an associates degree or equivalency in the computer drafting technology related fields
Familiar with most discipline’s concepts, practices and procedures
Extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
Performs a variety of complicated tasks while effectively managing the interfaces
Demonstrate breadth in applying skills to different project phases and working knowledge/experience in other related disciplines
Accountable for work packages (FEED & Detail Design deliverables), HSE, quality, schedule, and cost performance
Resolves highly complex issues and provides technical assurance in areas of discipline expertise

Is proficient in 2D and 3D CAD (PDMS, PDS, others) with at least +15 years of industry discipline related CAD design experience (piping, structural, electrical/instrumentation
