The Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise Division is off to a great start since launch and is fast gaining momentum. The Azure Compute team designs and builds the software infrastructure that powers more than 100,000 servers across datacenters around the globe and provides core infrastructure services for a variety of online applications. There is a lot of excitement about Azure and we need additional strong talents in Azure Compute to drive our services to next level of success.

We are building the next generation highly scalable and fully automated infrastructure. We focus on utilizing the resources most efficiently in the data center, easing development and deployment of services, simplifying the monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting of services, and optimizing reliability and performance. For example, autopilot dynamically allocates computing resources, automatically detects failures, repairs and recovers erroneous applications, manages the application deployment, and updates application data safely, quickly, and frequently. Azure Compute can schedule where to run application services and decides how many computing machines needed at a given time and given load. It furthermore provides foundational services such as messaging, queuing, storage, and caching services to enable rich application services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic data scientist to work on Azure Compute system to help advance the state of the art in data-driven engineering practice. The data scientist will partner with engineers on utilizing data mining and machine learning techniques to solve the hard problems in improving Azure compute service scalability, reliability, and performance, devops productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Focus areas in this charter include big data, analytics, machine learning, data exploration and visualization, simulation, instrumentation and service optimization.

Qualifications:

          5+ years of experience working on and analyzing big data

We are looking for Data Scientists with the skills to help us to Collect Data from our devices, clients, and services in a trustworthy way, Process the Data via a world class data pipelines turning raw data in to analysis-ready materials, and Analyze the Data through analytical rigor and statistical method with tools and applications to develop models and uncover deep insights and enable engineering teams to utilize the data effectively, develop insights, and turn the data into value for our customers.

In this role our Data Scientists will build our Data Assets into the competitive advantage they can be.   Working from the Hub Data Science team they will mentor the Spoke Data teams around flighting, collection, analysis, and utilizing our Data Assets.   A successful candidate should be able to identify new and interesting internal and external data sources and signals, gather the   data from these disparate sources with tools like Hadoop & HDInisght, work with our Services teams to process the data to the point that it can be analyzed.   Candidates should have experience analyzing big data with statistical rigor using R, MATLAB, SAS, or similar statistical modeling tools to build models to find interesting new insights to drive business outcomes.   Skills in C#, Python, Perl, or other scripting/programming language to help tie all of this together are important. Candidate should also have skills with SQL Server and SQL tools to build out cubes and data marts and enable additional self-serve analysis across Data Assets.   In addition to this we are looking for Data Scientists with strong creative visualization skills to help build out reports to be consumed by Engineers and Managers.

The PV Scientist assists and supports the ongoing aggregate review and analysis of product safety data to support the product life cycle for assigned molecules, both pre and post-marketing.
