Do you like to build new processes, systems, tools and capabilities and navigate through complex business challenges within a highly cross-functional team environment?     If so, this position is an exciting opportunity to build out the Microsoft Supply Chain supporting the Enterprise / Commercial segment.     The Microsoft Supply Chain has historically been skewed towards servicing the Retail segment - as a result, this role in uniquely positioned to leverage best practices from the Retail Supply Chain, your prior experience and industry best practices, to build an optimal hardware Supply Chain for the Commercial channel at Microsoft.  

This position will develop Supply Chain capabilities to support B2B channels, oversee fulfillment operations in a matrix organization, drive scalability in processes and tools as the B2B channel grows in scale and scope and will successfully manage multiple relationships with internal and external partners.   Additionally, this position will be expected to be a role model in driving thorough, timely, fact-based, proactive communications to key partners and stakeholders.    

As a key member of the Channel organization, this position is well positioned for expanded responsibility, acting as a resident expert in Supply Chain, inventory management and order fulfillment for the Commercial segment and leading complex Supply Chain initiatives on both a regional and global level.

On a day to day basis, this position will:

  Translate the strategies for selling hardware into the Commercial segment into an actionable short and long-term roadmap for the Supply Chain, driving alignment and buy-in to the roadmap and critically thinking through the ROI necessary behind any investment made

  Serve as a resident expert in Commercial Channel Operations, account management, demand-planning, inventory management, order fulfillment, supply chain metrics and processes

  Lead highly visible, challenging initiatives on a regional and global level, pulling together the necessary resources across the Supply Chain and elsewhere to ensure that an end-to-end view on new capabilities and priorities is represented

  Effectively lead a cross-functional v-team and senior-level SteerCo supporting the Commercial segment, to ensure alignment on initiatives, direction and priorities

  Act as   role model in driving thorough, timely, fact-based and proactive communications to key partners and stakeholders, including the development of a more robust rhythm of business and standardized global communication cadence

  Leverage industry best practices, prior experiences and existing best practices within the Microsoft Supply Chain to continually build / optimize the hardware Supply Chain supporting the Commercial segment

  Represent Channel and /or the Microsoft Supply Chain in various Commercial forums, including topics on complex special deals, system enhancements, new country segment expansion, the Supply Chain operationalization of Commercial Marketing programs, launch and end of life planning for the Enterprise customer and stakeholder base, etc.   Representation in these forums includes setting Supply Chain expectations accordingly and driving Supply Chain deliverables on the work

  Effectively manage a wide array of relationships both internally and externally to Microsoft to ensure connectivity between the Supply Chain and other parts of the business, ensure alignment and proactive Supply Chain planning, and to always have an “ear on the ground” for what’s transpiring within the segment.

Preferred Qualifications:

§ 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain / Fulfillment, preferably with a manufacturer of hardware / OEM supporting B2B Sales.  

§ Demonstrated experience in the areas of order fulfillment, inventory management and collaborative planning & demand forecasting processes

§ Effective cross-functional collaboration and ability to effectively lead teams through complex business situations

§ Proven track record for navigating through diverse, complex organizational and external customer relationships

§ Data-oriented, analytical and detail oriented, yet balanced with an ability to be able to step back from the data to draw the right business conclusions

§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

§ An ability to think critically and act decisively in ambiguous situations

Does the challenge of delivering exceptional digital work and life experiences that surpass Android and Apple excite you?   The OEM Division is looking for a business development & sales programs lead to work with one of our top multi-national (MNA) OEM partners (Acer) to drive new business leveraging sales accelerator programs across the company and devices & services integration opportunities in a way that will scale with the partner and deliver incremental business.

This role will be responsible for engaging across the Microsoft company eco-system, relevant external partner eco-systems and the partner to develop and drive execution of new programs and business opportunities that are beyond the scope of the run-rate business delivering incremental opportunities for Microsoft and the partner and increased revenue to the business.

Key responsibilities are:

Business Development:

•      Works across key Microsoft business divisions as appropriate to drive new business opportunities e.g. works with the industry solution teams, DPE and EPG as appropriate to develop industry specific solutions, services divisions such as Skype, Office etc. to drive services integration and other divisions as appropriate.

•      Works across the partner eco-system as appropriate to drive new business opportunities and secure joint investment for key initiatives e.g. works with Intel to develop joint investment plans focused on mutual objectives, CTE in conjunction with the Design-in team to look for new device opportunities etc.

•      Drive highly visible design wins and develop case studies that allow both the OEM and Microsoft to differentiate the offering in the marketplace and create new opportunities.

•      Develop business plans as appropriate to drive new opportunities with the partner that are beyond “business as usual”, removing any obstacles faced by the Microsoft and OEM teams and driving quality execution against the business development plan with other teams as appropriate through agreement to clear roles and responsibilities.

•      Effectively balances his/her involvement in customer engagements and is adept at positioning appropriately to other key teams to drive execution scale.

•      Proactively address and respond to competitive opportunities leveraging internal competitive intelligence.  

Sales and Sales Readiness

•      Responsible for delivery of sales goals and scorecard metrics including YoY growth targets.

Scorecard Metrics include, but are not limited to:

a.      Windows paid share of devices

b.      Windows Tablets

c.      Windows Pro Growth

d.      Windows Client Revenue

e.      Office revenue and licenses

f.      Microsoft high-value services cross-platform attach

g.      % Completion of Strategic Account Plans

h.      Partner Satisfaction

•      Manages an effective ROB to ensure goals and metrics are being met.

•      Create the solution messaging/deal/programs framework (and other collateral as needed) that the Microsoft and/or OEM can take out to their field sales teams to understand how to leverage the business opportunity effectively.

•      Be a subject matter expert for the portfolio of OEM devices and solutions

•      Work with the design-in lead to provide periodic briefings to segment team device sales leaders on each new selling season device & solutions portfolio including details on individual device & services differentiating features and competitive positioning relative to Android and Apple.  

•      Work with the OEM and marketing counterpart to ensure that both readiness and marketing “awareness and reach” are occurring in the Microsoft and OEM fields.  

•      Build trust with the respective Microsoft and OEM sales teams through an understanding of challenges that exist (i.e. where Microsoft and OEM compete and the implications at the field and customer levels).

•      Identification of cross-geography synergies that can benefit field teams in multiple subsidiaries.

•      Be the go-to resource for the sales team for new opportunity review and development.

OEM Partner Relationship Management:  

•      Develop a deep understanding of the partner’s global and regional strategy and business imperatives through market and partner inquiry as well as internal and external industry resources.

•      Integrate Microsoft’s strategic priorities and programs into OEM’s to ensure Microsoft mindshare with OEM at HQ level and that it cascades through to the regional level.  

•      Share deep industry knowledge and current device and competitive trends in the market with partners, local team and regional team.

•      Offer industry insights, intelligence and internal observations to the partner of the partner’s business that advances their priorities and opens new opportunities.

Essential Experience

•      PC and devices market knowledge including key distribution channels is required

•      Sales professional with proven track record of large partner management with resellers, distributors or OEMs

•      The ideal candidate will have demonstrated successful business development experience that includes an entrepreneurial approach to developing new business opportunities and driving to execution.

•      Aptitude for driving complex projects and developing a tactical execution plan for downstream execution by the sales and marketing team. This includes proven ability to impact and influence without authority.

•      Experience working with multi-cultural teams

•      Experience building multi-level relationships within a large or multinational account including management of senior executive relationships

Technical/Functional Skills

•      Knowledge of device design features and components and the associated impact on value proposition and device ID including how to drive Unique Sales Points

•      Understanding of the application services eco-system and how to integrate devices and services

•      Excellent oral and written communication and effective executive presentation

•      Strong sales, negotiation and objection handling

•      Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

•      Ability to develop accurate business plans and forecasts

•      Strong planning and organizational skills

The world of embedded devices and the Internet of Things (IoT) is growing rapidly. Microsoft is well positioned to grow our leadership position through our Intelligent Systems service and embedded devices built on Windows 8.1.   This role is specifically focused on growing our footprint in the mobility and hand held devices space.  

The OEM Embedded Group (OED) is hiring an experienced Channel Executive to drive the growth of our embedded business by developing deep relationships with our most strategic OEM partners.   The successful candidate will focus on developing and driving new design-in and design-win opportunities with key Tier 1 OEMs.  

This role will lead a consultative sales process resulting in the embedded system OEM manufacturer designing in and licensing Microsoft Embedded technologies.   This includes prospecting and qualifying opportunities, the ability to understand, communicate and provide guidance to the embedded system OEM manufacturers regarding MS product strategy, value propositions and direction.

This role will focus on OEMS who have a strong mobility and hand held business.  

The Channel Executive will:

•      Achieve revenue targets

•      Increase penetration of Windows Embedded products in named OEMs

•      Build deep account relationships with key tier 1 OEMs, including executive engagement.

•      Demonstrate excellent business management including pipeline coverage and forecast accuracy.

•      Support OEMs with registered designs to maximize results and return on investment

•      Work with distributors to ensure coordinated OEM account coverage and strategies.

•      Provide feedback to the business group to make sure that appropriate positioning, technical and marketing support and licensing terms are available for each device category.

Key metrics and results associated with this job include revenue attainment, Windows 8.1 design ins and wins, growing our share in hand held and mobility devices and increasing customer satisfaction.

The role requires a high degree of collaboration across Microsoft teams including product development, OEM, segment and specialist sales as well as supporting functional groups (Legal, Operations, OEM Policies & Programs, and Finance).

Basic Qualifications:

•      Proven track record achieving sales targets

•      Executive maturity and business acumen.

•      Experience engaging C-level executives

•      Knowledgeable and experience in enterprise mobile device sales and service

•      Experience and knowledge of the embedded devices space, key players and trends including hand held, mobility solutions, vehicle mount computers and small form factor tablets.

•      5+ yrs successful and proven performance selling in high tech industry.

•      2+ yrs experience in development, sales and/or marketing of embedded or OEM solutions

•      Solid understanding of “the channel” including: chip and board manufacturers, Authorized Distribution, Authorized Replication and System Builders.

•      Knowledge of Microsoft’s products & sales models.

A BA/BS degree in CS, EE or related discipline.

The Digital Channel Manager role is part of the Digital Channel Operations team under the Customer Logistics organization within MSC (Microsoft Supply Chain).

Role Description:

We manage the channel side of the digital services pipeline (software delivery) enjoyed by millions of people whether they are buying Xbox LIVE products or Office or Windows. This is all done through Microsoft’s extensive retail and e-distributor ecosystem worldwide.

Channel Managers (CM) need to be skilled at managing external and internal channel customer relationships.   The CM focuses on managing the launch of digital distribution partnerships to enable channel partners to distribute Microsoft products via ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) or POSA (Point of Sale Activation) as well as the ongoing support of existing partners.

The Channel Manager is always looking to innovate and evolve the business. CM’s must be able to analyze existing processes, capabilities and structures while reconciling them against growing market trends, demands and anticipated changes. The CM must balance the needs of expanding the business with driving the right business efficiencies to enable growth and scale.

1. Ensuring a reliable digital supply chain.

The Channel Manager is deadline driven to ensure that partner launches and product releases flow through the supply chain reliably and are delivered on time.

2. Ensuring quality in the ecosystem

The Channel Manager is extremely passionate about quality as it relates to process and systems. If there are any problems, the Channel manager is on point to troubleshoot the issues until closure, to establish the root cause, and to put preventative measures in place. The Channel Manager is creative in defining human, technology, or business policy workarounds when there are deficiencies in the existing processes or systems. In addition, the CM will look to drive long term solutions to ensure the long term stability of the business being an advocate for the business and customer.

Responsibilities:

-   Manage Partner and Product launches; coordinating the activities of multiple internal and external parties to plan all launch related activities; track progress against plan; report status; resolve issues; drive quality into the process and ensure on-time launch.

-   Develop strong customer and partner relationships; act as subject matter expert for internal Microsoft customers and external partners

  Troubleshoot any issues in production; Responsible for following up on any issue in production until closure.

-   Ownership and management of run processes as it relates to the digital SW business.

-   Drive innovation through process and capabilities to enable scale and complexity

-   Project management of multiple projects, some could be global in nature with multiple workstreams. Strong Project management, risk management, organization, collaboration and communication skills are essential

-   Measure and deliver success metrics to partners and the business and analyze business intelligence

-   Mentor peers on team in areas of own expertise

-   Influences senior management to adopt recommendations based on an understanding of the market, revenue, and cost drivers from an operational perspective across regions and/or disciplines

-   Partners with global teams to analyze processes and identify optimization opportunities

-   Facilitates communications between teams to ensure collaboration at multiple levels

Qualifications:

-   Four-year college degree in business, supply chain, computer science or related experience.  

-   4-7 years’ experience in supply chain, project management, business operations, or service operations, preferably in a digital product environment with proven process improvements and program/operations management abilities.  

-   Process oriented, meticulous and excellent communication is a must.  

-   Knowledge of, experience in and passion for the entertainment and productivity industry is also desirable.  

-   Project management education/certification (such as PMI) is a plus.

-   Fluency in additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese) is also a plus.

-   Consistent track record for delivery against tight timelines with constrained resources

-   Strong written and oral communications skills at all levels including executive audience

-   Conviction, courage and willingness to challenge the status quo, even if perspective may be unpopular
