Job Description:
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A minimum of six (6) years experience in DBA with a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college according to TECO education policy
Other IT experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Other IT experience may be considered in lieu of specific DBA experience.
Knowledge of both Oracle and SQL Server DBMSs, with expert knowledge in one and strong working knowledge of the other.
Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems necessary to perform assigned DBA functions.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Prefer expert level of knowledge in both Oracle and SQL Server.
Also would prefer experience with administration of Microsoft BizTalk Server.

EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree required in related field or equivalent in formal education.
Other IT experience may be considered in lieu of education.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (OVERTIME, IRREGULAR HOURS, TRAVEL, ETC.)
Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring all database-related activities during application system evaluations, development projects, and system implementations. Supports Information Systems staff (and others performing similar functions outside of IT) in understanding application data requirements and developing logical database models. Converts logical database designs to physical database models and develops the Data Definition Language (DDL) to create appropriate database objects. Reviews, tests, and makes appropriate revisions to vendor-supplied DDL to ensure database integrity. Designs and implements appropriate database backup and recovery strategies based on requirements provided by Information Systems personnel and IT Customers. Provides on-call support to troubleshoot and resolve database problems on a twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week basis and performs database recovery and restoration as needed. Plans and performs database monitoring and tuning activities to ensure optimal performance and response time. Provides consulting to Information Systems staff (and others performing similar functions outside of IT) on efficient SQL coding techniques for optimum database and application performance. Performs upgrades to DBMS and Middleware products, which include impact analysis, testing, data conversion and implementation. Enforces database standards and procedures for standard DBMS products in use at Client. Must maintain adequate knowledge of relevant Client's business processes and systems.
