Senior Program Manager

The “Internet of Things/Engineering” is upon us and we are going to win this space with our client and cloud products!   The IoT team (part of Microsoft's Operating Systems Group) is leading this initiative within Microsoft. We are hiring passionate and talented PMs to help us deeply understand customer and user scenarios including the specifics of different Industry verticals; ensuring Windows is the optimal platform for Industry device types, and building the intelligent-systems solution platform, to help enterprises realize the vast potential and actionable intelligence of data.

Our team is looking for an experienced and talented program manager to drive connectivity and end-to-end device solutions with strategic partners in the IoT space.

Responsibilities include:

  Next Gen Device Definitions:   Evolve and maintain our canonical device target and requirements plan for new devices through engagement with customers and planning.

  Customer / Device Builder engagement:

o Engage with makers and device builders to validate & refine requirements for each target

o Develop Microsoft’s proposed engineering deliverables for each target (components, source, device sample, etc)

o Coordinate with IoT-CXE to onboard key build preview customers for feedback and issue ingress.

o Coordinate with IoT-CXE to develop a depth engagement & production plan with critical 1st and/or 3rd party device builders in each of our device scenarios to a) validate components end-to-end and b) ensure the availability of high-impact devices at launch.

  OEM/manufacturing:   Own all dependencies necessary to ensure OEMs can manufacture devices efficiently, including creating/deploying a device image and support for production-line test requirements

  Connectivity Standards:   Contribute to appropriate AllJoyn/AllSeen and Industrial Internet Consortium working groups and test bed efforts to drive strategic initiatives aligned to devices and customers.

Qualifications:

        BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering or Mathematics.

  10+ years’ experience in Software Development completing multiple Software Development Life Cycles for consumer electronics products

  Experience in program management or leader of development teams

  Proven record of owning external communications with partners and customers.

        Expert knowledge of the product group engineering process and development lifecycle

        Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)

        Results-oriented

        Proven problem solving / analytical abilities

        Solid leadership and meeting facilitation skills

        Effective collaborator / partner

        Agile approach to change and thought leadership in driving team-wide improvements

        Cloud Services experience a plus
