Join our team to ship the product that is the reason people buy Office and one of the most used applications inside of Microsoft and many organizations. Here are a few of the reasons why you should join us:
- Outlook is currently in development of next version of Office. Right now is an excellent time to join and have an impact on what Outlook does for the next release and ensure stability for the next version of Outlook.
- We are having a major focus on improving test *engineering*. We need high potential testers to help us implement the engineering changes and to be a part of the decisions on the best way to engineer the Outlook test system.
- Outlook is an incredibly complicated product that is used by millions of people in a wide variety of ways. We need high potential testers to help us manage that complexity.
Outlook is a critical piece to Office and Microsoft’s success and the most used product in the Office family. It is a tool that people love and can’t live without and a tool that can drive you crazy. Outlook 2010 was a major step forward in improving the overall experience. However, we have major competitors and need to continue to innovate to stay relevant.
We plan to make significant improvements in the engineering of how we test Outlook. The test pass for Outlook today is too long. We need engineers who can help us make significant improvements in our testing methodology. Automation and tools will be one piece of that effort, but it will be broader than just automation. We have cross discipline and senior management buyoff on investing in improving our test engineering. Now we need people to bring their ideas on the direction and help us execute.
Outlook is incredibly complex. It connects to several different servers today (Exchange, SharePoint, POP/SMTP, IMAP) and it will get more complex moving into the future (Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace). There are so many different ways someone can use Outlook. We need people to help us manage that complexity. It is a great opportunity to stretch and grow your abilities.
There are significant challenges facing Outlook. I am excited about those challenges because dealing with them requires good *engineers* and Microsoft has good engineers. Coming to Outlook now means you will get to play a role in improving the test engineering of one of Microsoft most critical applications.
