Amgen Job Description Manufacturing Engineering is a global process development function that facilitates the definition, implementation, and improvement of drug substance process technologies across the manufacturing network. We are seeking a team member to support downstream unit operations (filtration, chromatography, centrifugation, etc.). The position requires Independent application of engineering principles to the practical design, implementation and optimization of process unit operations and equipment. The engineer will tackle a wide variety of challenging projects examples include: evaluation and documentation of process requirements; support of large capital projects; develop, execute, and analyze engineering test plans and experiments; evaluation and development of equipment design for new technologies; and troubleshooting of existing systems. Responsibilities include documentation of activities and presentation of results at department and project meetings with minimal supervisor guidance. Will represent PD to other organizations within the company while building and maintaining effective collaborations.
Long mont is the preferred site but Candidates from AWA and ATO locations will be considered.
Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree & 3 years of directly related experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of directly related experience
OR
Associate’s degree & 10 years of directly related experience
OR
High school diploma / GED & 12 years of directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications MS 3 years of directly related experience
or Ph.D.
Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
Good facilitation & influencing skills
Understanding of cGMP biologics manufacturing processes and requirements
Ability to apply advanced problem solving skills within defined constraints
Understanding of cGMP equipment design requirements and evaluation
Detailed knowledge of multiple unit operations and their application in production processes
Experience providing process engineering support of pilot/clinical/commercial biotech processes
Expertise in process equipment design, procurement, validation, and troubleshooting
Experience with large capital projects including design and testing of commercial scale process equipment
Understanding of biochemistry and protein chemistry as related to biotechnology processes
Experience supporting both mammalian (mAb) and microbial processes
Interest and demonstrated aptitude in the practical application and potential development of
computational and statistical models
