HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR
(2 positions; 1 full time and 1 half time)
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is a two-year technical college, serving Northeast Wisconsin by providing education, training, and life-long learning opportunities for individuals and businesses leading to the development of a skilled workforce. Our customers stimulate the economic vitality of our district as a result of the application of skills and knowledge acquired through the completion of certificates, degrees, diplomas, and courses. We are currently seeking Health Information Technology Instructors on our Green Bay Campus.
Responsibilities/Duties:
• Responsible for managing the instructional process and student advising within the area of instruction.
• Responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing curriculum and student outcomes.
• May be responsible for assisting with student clinical experience including but not limited to, student placement, site recruitment, site communication, maintenance of records, site visits, and evaluation of site compliance with program policies.
• Work effectively with applicable advisory committees, faculty, administration and community groups.
• Serves as an instructor for a program that prepares students to work in the business offices of clinics, hospitals, insurance companies, and other health care organizations.
• Responsible for creating and managing a student centered learning environment to ensure individuals develop competencies necessary for successful employment as specified by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.
• Actively participate in faculty meetings as well as the development of a team action plan.
• Accountable for carrying out team action plan initiatives to achieve results as they relate to NWTC 2013 goals with respect to the HIT program and Division goals.
• Deliver curriculum utilizing various delivery modes including: Face to face, ITV, Internet and Accelerated Learning.
• Work with the HCBS/HIT program team to review, revise and develop curriculum to meet industry needs.
• Participate in professional development activates that provide for continually updated knowledge and skills with respect to HIT and instructional delivery.
• Responsible for upholding the core values of the College.
• Maintains necessary documentation for programs and students as required by the State of Wisconsin.
Requirements:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two years (five years preferred) of occupational experience or equivalent education and work experience.
• Must be certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
• Knowledge of the operational issues of health care organizations, health care reform, regulatory requirements, reimbursement methodologies, claims and records handling, and coding.
• Teaching/training experience preferred.
• Employment conditional upon completion of a Caregiver Background Check with the results acceptable to the clinical agencies accessed in the curriculum.
• Must be able to meet the Wisconsin Technical College system certification requirements.
• Must be able to work a schedule that could include one or two evening courses per semester.
