Assistant Vice President - Washington State University - Pullman, WA

The Assistant Vice President for Facilities Operations is responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership for a comprehensive university-wide facilities operations program.

The Assistant Vice President is responsible for strategic planning with a customer service focus in the areas of maintenance and in house construction services; utility and energy systems; plant services and waste management; custodial and grounds services; and departmental support services; as required, provides support for the operational and maintenance needs of the branch campuses and research/extension centers throughout the state.

Minimum/Required Qualifications:
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, business administration, or related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the appropriate administrative/professional area. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. An advanced degree in a relevant field and senior-level management experience in an institution of higher education, governmental organization or a comparable corporate environment is preferred.

Minimum/Required Qualifications continued:
A minimum of five years of the above experience should be at the senior administrative level with a demonstrated record of successful leadership in the facilities operations of a large university, business, municipal, or government entity;

Strategic leadership skills in campus building, infrastructure and grounds operations and maintenance;

Track record of collaboration: ability to form and lead teams across organizational lines to accomplish institutional goals and objectives;

Experience with and the ability to, work with various stakeholders who have conflicting agendas, to achieve consensus and implementation of goals;

Experience in implementation of organizational initiatives to streamline structure and processes;

Demonstrated skills in providing time and cost responsive customer service while balancing stewardship of institutional needs;

Experience managing a large and diverse staff;

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills;

Experience in budget and personnel administration;

Demonstrated strong commitment to customer service and a workplace climate that advocates the well-being, safety, and success of all employees;

Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, business administration, or related field;

Experience developing, negotiating, and administrating contractual agreements and performance standards relating to physical plant operations in compliance with applicable laws and codes;

Familiarity with computer-based technologies related to facilities operations and maintenance;

Professional registration or certification.
