Departmental Overview
Infrastructure Services is a unit within UC Berkeley’s Information Services and Technology (IST) organization providing the hardware and systems software to run campus business applications. Most central campus functions are hosted on Infrastructure Services equipment and many departmental applications as well.
Infrastructure Services Production Control Shared Service Center (PCSSC) is seeking a Production Control Coordinator to monitor and manage workflows associated with UC locations including (UC Office of the President, UC San Francisco, UC Berkeley and UC Irvine Medical Center). Workflow management includes assistance in the resolution of errors, job restarts, and reruns associated with UC location business systems work flows. Using skills related to IBM mainframe, Unix, and Windows computer systems and job scheduling software, as well as source-code control-management tools and knowledge of UC multi-campus business systems, the Production Control Coordinator will execute and monitor computer systems business work flows to successful completion.
Responsibilities
Using mainframe and distributed job scheduling software Control-M, Zeke or UC4 - Active Jobs File (AJF) – complete the following:Reconcile “Wait confirmations” and “Ended not OK” conditions“Hold” “Free” and “Delete” jobs based on review of AJF or Queue associated with job streams/flows for combined UCOP/UCSF/UCB production schedulesForce END OK termination of jobs “not-submitted ”or ”ended NOTOK”Apply filters to limit AJF review and analysis to specific applicationsDisplay log messages associated with the completed execution of a jobEdit Job Control Language (JCL) of a job schedule definition queued on the AJF for revisions necessary to successfully complete the jobCode, schedule, execute and confirm successful completion of adhoc production job requests for multiple UC locations.Perform restart/rerun procedures with Job Control Language (JCL)/Script overridesPerform restart/rerun procedures using Control-M RestartConfer with Application Services on proper sequencing of tasksModify appropriate IN/OUT conditions to reflect proper sequencing of restart/rerun job streamsAdd/Modify Control-M/Zeke/UC4 job scheduler definitions, and calendarsPrepare shift turnover documentation.Define, code, and submit trouble tickets clearly describing production job stream problems. Escalate trouble tickets to appropriate support groups as necessary.Convert and migrate existing jobs/schedules of other UC campuses into BMC Control-M. Code and test converted/migrated jobs and schedules prior to production turnover.Administer PageCenter web browsing of mainframe generated reports. Including: Add/Change/Delete user account definition; Add/Delete users from User Groups; Add/Change/Delete user groups; Add/Change/Delete Pageset definitions; Authorize application access.Migrate production job control streams (Job Control Language/JCL) using source control management tools.Monitor FTP Server. Identify and report failed FTP processes.Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/trainingTechnical skills and knowledge of BMC Control-M and Enterprise Manager and other automated job scheduling software, utility programs, and associated subsystemsTechnical skills and knowledge to maintain mainframe TSO/ISPF, Windows and Unix user environment associated with a Production Control Login IDProficient in MS Office Word and ExcelExperience with Mainframe z/OS TSO/ISPF and SDSFKnowledge of File Transfer Protocol (FTP) flow and controlExperience with Levy Ray, Shoup (LRS) PageCenter account administrationKnowledge and skill with mainframe z/OS operating system file organizations (Sequential, PDS, VSAM)Strong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work non-prime shift hours and weekend on-call supportPreferred Qualifications Experience with BMC Control-M and Enterprise Manager.Experience with ASG Zeke, or UC4 job schedulers a plus.Knowledge of UCSF, UCOP or UC Berkeley production workloads and job flows a plus.Salary & BenefitsThe annual salary range for this position is $49,080 - $72,864. Salary offered will be commensurate with experience.

This position is governed by the terms and conditions in the agreement for the Clerical Unit (CX) between the University of California and the Coalition of University Employees (CUE/Teamsters).
