Processes all incoming and outgoing mail and publications for offenders and staff. Opens incoming mail and inspects for contraband, gang related material and other information or objects as determined by policy. Delivers outgoing mail to the Post Office each day and picks up incoming mail at the Post Office each day. Maintains logs and documentation required by policy.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience processing confidentail mail. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of staff. Demonstrated skill in the use of personal computers and Microsoft office software (Word, Excel and Access). Demonstrated ability to maintain logs and written records.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer experience working in a mail room.
Special Requirements
All applicants are subject to a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.
The investigation may include: fingerprint checks (State Police, FBI); local agency checks; employment verification; verification of education (relevant to employment); credit checks; and other checks requested by the hiring authority.
