Position Objective:

Serves as Chief of Staff of the Office of Post-Secondary Readiness by overseeing and prioritizing proper functioning of all administrative and strategic activities. As the primary aide to the Assistant Superintendent, this role handles a wide range of matters of institutional importance on behalf of all Middle Schools, 6-12 Schools, High Schools, Pathway School and Turnaround Schools around 53 schools), plus the Office of College and Career Readiness, Student Engagement Team and Athletics, all reporting up through the Assistant Superintendent. Oversees all operations of the Office of Post-Secondary Readiness, to include management of staff, budgets, administration, policies, and procedures. Provides coordination and oversight in the development and tracking of progress of defined core initiatives for the Office of Post-Secondary Readiness. In addition, serves as the Assistant Superintendents’ primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions:
Organizes and manages the Post-Secondary Readiness Office assuring efficiency of the office operations and staff (including maintaining a year-long calendar of key activities, staffing needs, evaluating/monitoring of major projects, infusion of DPS Values throughout the team culture, etc.).
• Develops and supports implementation of a strategic plan to guide the work of the Post-Secondary team to reach targets, including tracking systems for both process and quantitative outcomes.
• Relieves the Assistant Superintendent of details of projects, and coordinates all communication needs, both internal and external.
• Acts as the primary representative for the goals and priorities of the Post-Secondary team by serving on a variety of task-forces, cross-functional initiatives and/or designates someone to serve in that role and tracks progress (i.e. Gateways to College and Career Readiness, Response to Intervention, Deputy Meetings, etc.).
• Serves as a generalist; performs complex administrative duties.
• Composes correspondence and designs presentations independently on a wide variety of matters, including material of a confidential nature for a variety of audiences
• Provides accurate and timely information within the Office of Post-Secondary Readiness departments as well as across Denver Public Schools departments, personnel, students and the public as necessary.
• Screens matters that rise to the Assistant Superintendent and tactfully assists in resolving staff, student, family, and community concerns directly or through appropriate referral.
• Maintains an understanding of the educational programs and operational functions of the Office of Post-Secondary Readiness and appropriately implements policies, procedures and guidelines in coordination with key staff members.
• Responsible for the preparation and assembly of the weekly Post-Secondary Readiness Leadership Team meetings, topics and professional development pre-post meeting
• Facilitate monthly whole staff meetings and professional development on relevant topics related to strategic goals, including, working coordination with other key presenters and ensuring the preparation and distribution of meeting materials and agendas pre-post meeting
• Tracks all outputs from meetings through a transparent structure and monitors follow up on key activities aligned with strategic initiatives.
• Reviews, researches and summarizes a variety of key information and data around strategic initiatives and prepares or partners on the creation of related reports in partnership with the Department of Assessment, Research, and Evaluation and Planning and Analysis as well as other departments as needed
• Serves as Budget Manager by maintaining and monitoring office expenditures, grants (both current and future) in partnership with the Finance Department and Grants team; provides quarterly updates to the Assistant Superintendent.

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge and understanding of urban school systems or similar complex organizations, key goals and objectives, and polices and procedures.
• Knowledge of K-12 educational philosophy and top management administrative practices and procedures.
• Knowledge and familiarity with relevant software applications (word processing, excel, power point, project management and other organizational tools).
• Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of diverse individuals and constituent groups.
• Strategic planning and project management skills to support the Office of Post-Secondary Readiness core goals and objectives.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills that promote teamwork, equity, integrity, and innovation.
• Ability to write speeches, various communication reports, and develop high quality presentations for a variety of audiences (including top management, and internal and external audiences).
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from key stakeholders.

• Ability to think, reason, and make sound judgments on how responsibilities are distributed and managed across diverse team.
• Ability to develop and manage a multi-million dollar budget.

Education & Other Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Master’s Degree in Education, Public or Business Administration, or in another appropriate field and seven (7) years of high-level administrative experience; or Bachelor’s degree and eleven (11) years experience in Business or related field.
• Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and operating agreements.
• Coordinates special projects on behalf of the Assistant Superintendent, frequently involving senior officers of the district
• Participates with the Assistant Superintendent and other senior team members in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution.
