Program Manager - Training and Go-Live - Phoenix, AZ
The Program Manager oversees major Training and Go-Live for projects to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with established specifications, schedules, and budgets. The Program Manager is responsible for completing regular audits of projects to ensure that projects are completed on-time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the Business Sponsor.
EHR POSITION PURPOSE
The Training and Go-Live Manager assists and facilitates the training and go-live of clinical and business EHR implementations, inclusive of but not limited to Cerner and MS4. The Training and Go-Live Manager provides on the ground support for regional implementations working closely with the project team and local resources to ensure a successful implementation.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that scope is defined and project plans implemented in accordance with the project methodology, through proposal scoping and through project start up, execution and completion. Responsible for entire project life cycle.
- Select, on-board and orient the team that will be assigned to projects and clearly identify purpose and background for the project. Defines and determine role of project management in each project, including specific roles and responsibilities for each project member.
- Provide hands-on project management and actively monitor project plans, deliverables, dependencies and outcomes for selected project(s) as approved by senior management and key stakeholders.
- Ensure that the project goals and objectives are achieved within the project timeframe and guidelines established by the relevant stakeholders and management committees.
- Monitor preparation of communication plans and related project status reports to key stakeholders and governance bodies (as appropriate) to provide project updates on activities and deliverables.
- Define and manage overall change control processes and quality assurance aspects of projects.
- Forecast and track capital and expenses for the programs reflecting Total Cost Ownership (TCO).
- Define and manage overall project risk identification and mitigation process through interaction with project constituents and stakeholders.
- Define and implement the appropriate change management strategy and plans to ensure that change management concerns are addressed during and after project implementation, as well as to ensure that the project impact is sustainable and supported by the business process owners.
- Prepare program reports for IT leadership.
- Interact extensively with and builds strong relationships with vendors, hospital leadership and other IT leaders.
- Manage Project Team's time to ensure that capitalization rates are met and that resources are allocated appropriately.
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field(s) of study such as health administration, management information systems or business administration or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
- 5+ years of exp in a healthcare environment.
- 5+ years of information systems experience with an emphasis in Program Management.
- Project Management Certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Possesses a thorough understanding of application programming, database and system design concepts.
- Possesses a thorough knowledge and understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for program management and facilitating highly complex projects.
- Strong leadership, presentation, and interpersonal and relationship-building-skills, with the ability to manage up, down and across levels of the organization.
- Possess a strong understanding of the hospital Clinical Systems and best practices and regulatory requirements
- Ability to manage time and competing priorities effectively.
- Possess strong communication skills to ensure the business is kept up to speed on the status of projects and aware of any possible issues.
- Possess thorough understanding of project management phases, techniques and tools.
- Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to work in a complex and matrixed team environment; experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to lead teams supported by excellent communication (presentation and verbal), organization, and mobilization skills.
- Proven abilities in problem management and process analysis.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines.
- Skills in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
