General Summary The Director of Sales is responsible for driving growth of the company’s existing Wal-Mart business.
The company has done business with Wal-Mart for over 15 years, in more that 6 softlines and hardlines departments. The company maintains a support office in Bentonville for inventory management, sales re-caps, order writing etc. The Director of Sales will act as a main point of contact for day-to-day needs of Wal-Mart with the buying team, create and update internal forecasts for the Wal-Mart business by department, class and brand. The candidate will strategize wth the EVP, CEO, and merchandising teams on product offerings, promotions, competitive landscape, and come up with new and innovative ways to drive business.
The candidate will review monthly scorecards with EVP, identifies areas of strengths, opportunities and/or threats within market and proactively create a strategy for a corrective action plan. Supply Chain Management – Weekly check-ins with cross functional team members in production, design and operations to ensure order flow execution “watching the open orders, sampling etc.”
Meet regularly with licensor’s marketing teams in Arkansas with updates on initiatives on new programs. Relay relevant information to EVP.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years Wal-Mart experience as sales lead of substantial business. (Softlines preferred)
- Extensive experience with ERP systems, PLM platforms, process business cycles and work flow
- Proficiency in Retail Link, Excel, PPT, Access, Word, Outlook
- Knowledge of SSO’s creation, analytical experience
- Domestic travel 35-40 days per week – primarily to Arkansas
- Experience in selling licensed products
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate and lead WM support teams in NY and Bentonville
- Study floor pad, solid understanding of the customer, create a strategy to reviw with EVP making recommendations regarding new department initiatives. What are the key items? Who is the competition? What are the key price points? etc.
- Item Management- supervise timely item set up by our planning team to include accuracy and packing efficiencies
- CTL compliance – Frequent check-ins with NY Compliance Manager – ensuring there are no CTL flags
- Order Execution – Once order is received, must be able to submit order accurately and timely and ensure order is processed within 24 hours
- Support ongoing day to day information, servicing our buying team requests: samples, comp shop analysis, special projects etc.
- Calendar Management – Gather, organize, set-up log all key milestone dates from all departments. Set up calendar from every department, organize and log all key mile stone dates, scheduling appointments with our buying teams. Coordinating and scheduling internal prep/strategy meetings with EVP, and Head of Merchandising at least 8 weeks in advance of every AAM meeting for each department separately
- Manage all open initiatives by scheduling weekly touch base with EVP and Head of Merchandising regarding outstanding projects or requests
- Meeting preparation – Execute strategy regarding flow of presentation. Ensure prep books are created; samples are tagged and ready to present. Ensure all development has been completed and received from merchandising teams
- Organize tests, and feature opportunities – schedule meetings with EVP and Merchandising, identify deadlines to meet and submit for each department, set up meetings and pass off with buyers

- 5-7 years Wal-Mart and Sales Experience: 1 year
