Job Description


We are staffing up our critical R&D efforts in our Santa Clara offices! The PWI (Processors and Wireless Infrastructure) team of Broadcom Corporation, (formally Netlogic) is well known in the semiconductor industry for providing super high-performance network microprocessors.


This is an exciting position in our software team. We are looking for Software and Firmware developers for future XLP Processors. Your work will be doing the following, but not limited to:


1. Software / firmware development for MIPS/ARM processors.


2. Participation in Pre/Post-Silicon development and validation.


3. Processor/SoC bringup and SDK/BSP development, bare-metal development


4. Firmware, bootloaders, BIOS, Linux device driver development/support with special emphasis on DDR4 memory controller, PCIe, Server management, UEFI, ACPI, PSCI etc.


Qualifications Required


 


Typically requires a BSEE/BSCS degree and 9+ years of experience, an MSEE/MSCS degree and 6+ years of experience or a PhDEE or PhDCS and 3+ years of experience or equivalent.


* Strong C programming skills


* Familiar with at least one assembly language (MIPS, ARM, and/or x86)


* Comfortable working closed to hardware and bare-metal environment – both chip level and board level.


* Ability to understand board schematics and debug hardware interface issues with logic analyzers, JTAG probes and protocol tracers


* Ability to read Verilog RTL to understand SoC functionality


* Expertise in USB, PCIe, DDR , NOR, NAND hardware protocol specifications


* Experience with PCIe (both RC and EP modes) as well as IO-Offload, SR-IOV and IO Virtualization support


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Any of the following experience is a strong plus:


* Prior Linux bootloader development (UEFI, DDR4, USB, I2C, Coresight, ACPI, PSCI,kernel, device drivers).


* Familiar with at least one Unix/Linux script language.


* Familiar with tools such as oscilloscope, digital analyzer, etc.


* Expertise in industry standard bootloaders/firmware such as U-Boot, UEFI, ACPi, PSCI, IPMI etc.


* Ability to read Verilog RTL to understand SoC functionality


* Expertise in DDR3, and SPI hardware protocol specifications


* Working knowledge of various Flash controllers such as serial/parallel NOR/NAND, SD/MMC
