Chemonics is seeking a field accounting support team (FAST) manager to establish and maintain uniformity and accuracy in field accounting procedures and ensure that all field accounting practices adhere to USAID and Chemonics regulations and policies. The FAST manager will advise field offices on financial compliance matters, analyze local account submission, and help projects devise approaches for asset and liability management. This position will travel to field projects, install accounting software and tracking mechanisms and trains appropriate field personnel in the use of these systems. Responsibilities include:
•Demonstrate technical competence in planning and managing work products; provide input to procedures, processes, reports, and other documents
•Expand knowledge in primary discipline, demonstrate understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of international development, and begin applying understanding to problem solving, program development, strategy plans, and programming decisions
•Review on a monthly basis expenses incurred by overseas project offices, including:
o Proper usage of transaction codes
o Proper usage of project codes
o Management of field asset and liability account balances
o Obtaining necessary approvals for expenses
o Uploading locally incurred expenses into Solomon
•Complete monthly reconciliation of home-office and field-office project accounts, research variances, and recommend resolutions for un-reconciled amounts
•Reconcile field-office trial balances and bank statement balances to home-office trial balances on a monthly basis, and be able to identify problems and recommend solutions
•Conduct field assignments and train field-based accountants in on USAID/DCAA/Chemonics’ policies, procedures, and regulations
•Consistently produce work products in conformance with Chemonics’ and clients’ standards
•Undertake assignments on projects or special initiatives as appropriate
Qualifications:
• Bachelor"s degree or equivalent experience required
• Minimum 3 years experience with auditing and accounting
• Minimum 3 years USAID/government regulations or CPA preferred
• Prior knowledge of accounting systems required. Solomon, Deltek, or similar preferred
• Knowledge of company’s main client and its operations preferred
• Ability to solve technical, managerial or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge
• Experience living or working in developing countries preferred
• Willingness to work overseas 20 percent and to consider long-term overseas assignments
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings
• Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity
• Foreign language fluency desired (Spanish or French)
