POSITION SUMMARY


The Senior Vice-President, Programs (SVP, Programs) will lead program implementation for Winrock globally. This leader will work with the program groups to align overall program priorities and objectives with current resources as well as new business goals. The SVP, Programs will work closely with the New Business Services team to help ensure business development is done in accordance with the organization’s mission, goals and programmatic priorities.


The SVP, Programs will be a key new business visionary, an executive collaborator who will support the work of the Senior Directors to ensure that the organizational structure supports Winrock’s shared services model, in which core competencies are identified and Winrock’s global program is aligned to support development impact. This position will require approximately 30% travel.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead program strategic direction to align with Winrock’s technical expertise and global development trends.

  • Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performing team members

  • Promote collaboration with Winrock’s Finance, New Business and Operations leadership to establish relationships that help us fulfill our strategic plan

  • Bear primary responsibility for new business with support from Business Development, External Affairs and other functions

  • Support a culture of accountability around relationships with existing funders, regardless of geography or type of funds

  • In collaboration with program leaders, ensure that decisions related to the allocation of resources are made based on the achievement of long term and short term programmatic goals

  • Provide leadership in development of inter-team communication and cohesiveness, sustaining culture and supporting staff during organizational growth

  • Ensure that key project outcomes and/or policy, advocacy, and legislation are evaluated and leveraged for maximum community and organizational impact

  • Work collaboratively with the senior management team to integrate across program activities and functions

QUALIFICATIONS


Education:BA required; Master’s degree in related field preferred or relevant experience.


EXPERIENCE


Program Leadership and Management:


  • Minimum 15 years of related management experience.

  • Must have hands-on experience in leading a variety of initiatives, including leadership of a major program in a developing country environment.

  • Developed and operationalized strategies that have taken a program or organization to the next stage of growth and performance.

New Business Development Skills:


  • Familiarity with Winrock’s major donors’ processes, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), other multilateral donors, as well as experience working with corporate partners and foundations**.**

  • Demonstrated excellence in program design, proposal development and ongoing funder relations.

Technical Skills:


  • Demonstrated experience leading global teams to achieve measurable development impact, with global leadership across geographies, common performance indicators and a track record of growing a global portfolio.

Team Building and Development:


  • Has lead the development of global teams, having recruited, managed, and retained a team of top performers including program leaders, program/project managers, technical leads and development professionals

Exceptional Communication and Influencing Skills:


  • Must have high emotional intelligence, strong written and verbal communication skills, and enjoy building and maintaining personal relationships.

  • Persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

  • Must work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations

Financial Management:


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with development and management of $100+million dollar budget

Other skills:


  • Ability to achieve strategic objectives and leverage resources for the greatest possible development impact

  • Proven revenue-generating experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders including government, bi- and multi-lateral funders, foundations, corporate sponsors as well as non- traditional funders such as advisory groups, coalitions, forums, trade associations, and practitioner groups

  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people

  • Demonstrated judgment and leadership skills

  • A team player who can operate effectively with peers within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment

  • An individual who is able to handle a variety of constituencies and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Impeccable integrity and exceptional emotional intelligence

  • Strong analytical skills and business intuition
